Hello
Have question about puppeteers.
The Rules say: “If puppeteers are included in the end credits include them and append (puppeteer) at the end of the role.”
I’m not clear if this means the credit had to include the word “puppeteer(s)” or the credit simply has to be for a role that could be considered that of a puppeteer.
I’m presently auditing “Weird Science” and inside the cast end credits there are two for “Blob Operators”. As far as I can tell you neither see nor hear either person, but they do operate the “blob” which one of the characters gets turned into at one point.
Thanks – Paul | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

| Posted: | | | | The way I was PM'd to do it was. If it is a group you use a header and also puppeteer in the role position.
Blob Operators John Doe Puppeteer Jane Doe Puppeteer
And I do track all stunt people in my other crew section. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

Correct would be: Blob Operators John Doe (Puppeteer) Jane Doe (Puppeteer) As I understand it the brackets are needed for the future implementation of a "Puppeteer" checkbox, so that the program could make the change automatically. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! As I understand it the brackets are needed for the future implementation of a "Puppeteer" checkbox, so that the program could make the change automatically. I've never seen this but it would make things easier. I know what a pain it's been changing single quotation marks to bold/italics. |

| Posted: | | | | The rules actually tells us to use them.... Quote: If puppeteers are included in the end credits include them and append (puppeteer) at the end of the role. I always vote no and point to the above rule whenever I see them added without them. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Hello. Yes, for clarity I should have included the brackets in the poll option answers. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? | Posted: | | | | I'm sure my contributions are among those in question. I can't help it. I always try to follow the rules, but this is one of those areas where my logical brain just can't get past. We use a Group Divider to describe the list of Puppeteers and then type (puppeteer) for each role. That is utter rubbish. Using that kind of logic, we should make a Group Divider for Dancers or SWAT Team Members and then put Dancer and SWAT Team Member as the role. Ridiculous, I'll keep contributing them without the roles and they will have to get voted down and rejected.
I guess this will put me on the outside looking in from now on. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Only if there's the potential for a future flag for "Dancer" or "SWAT Team" to be added to the program. I am not aware of them being considered. Quote: Ridiculous, I'll keep contributing them without the roles (Puppeteer) isn't a role, it's a flag. It's meta-information describing an aspect of the role, not the role itself. It's like (Voice) for voice actors in animated films, before the flag was added. You'd still add (Voice) for actors listed under "Additional Voices" as a group, there just wouldn't be anything else in the role field. If Bob Barker was the puppeteer for Godzilla, you'd have: Bob Barker -- Godzilla (Puppeteer) The 'role' was Godzilla, while the part he played in that role was 'Puppeteer' (and not, say, 'Voice'). You can exclude the role if that's covered by the group divider, but the flag (Puppeteer) still has meaning separate from that (and, as mentioned, allows for easy automatic conversion once it's added to the program). That doesn't change just because the text happens to match what's in the divider, any more than "Voice of God" would exclude (Voice). |
