| Posted: | | | | After struggling along with only a 50Mb/5Mb connection for ages, today I got an e-mail from Virgin Media to tell me it's doubled my speed to 100Mb! Behold! Read the figures and weep, mere mortals: | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

| Posted: | | | | I'm curious what people do with your connections being that fast.
Is it mainly to keep games from lagging? It's certainly not needed for things like loading videos (big deal, you loaded a 10 minute video in 2 seconds) or downloading programs (again, big deal, you download a program in 3/100ths of a second and then spend 5 minutes installing it, and certainly not for general page loading. Even at my terrible speed pages load almost instantly.
My ISP actually dropped me to a lower plan without asking (saving me money) after running tests this year and seeing--despite the capabilities of the modem itself--signals would not go through any faster (because of my sucky phone lines) than the speed of the lower plan. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk. |

I really should be an IT consultant... | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Don't ask awkward questions! I suppose the reality is, 95%+ of what most people have they don't really need. I don't need a single DVD, for example. I guess it's the "because it's there" factor. In my defence, the doubling of the speed I get was done free of charge, as Virgin Media wants to stay ahead of BT for marketing purposes. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? | Posted: | | | | I might not have anything worthwhile to say or do, but I can do it quickly. However, connecting to Fiji (on the other side of the world to me) is a somewhat more laid back affair. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?
