Hopefully everything will be great and we can go see Age of Ultron in 3D this May!

Good luck!

I had a wisdom tooth removed last year and waiting for that was bad enough.  Modern surgery is so amazing.  It'll be great when it's all sorted out.

Hope it goes smoothly.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Thankfully I had enough vacation time saved up that I will still be getting paid for the entire week!

So pleased my company paid me 9 months sick pay continuous (plus let me keep the leave accrued whilst sick to carry over to the following year); I couldn't imagine how I'd have coped having to use up vacation and then be without income until I returned to work - sorry you have to use ypur vacation Pete, but I'm sure the results will be worth it!

Thanks everyone.... the kind thoughts really are appreciated.

Started the prep work for surgery tomorrow. First of the eye drops are in. Slight sting to it but nothing too bad.

It is a shame I had to use my vacation time for the surgery... I was hoping to save it up and go somewhere to do something fun. But this is slightly more important.

Same here.

The doctors may tell you this, but just in case... keep in mind that if you get your vision back, having not used two eyes in so long, perception of objects might be very, very different from what you have gotten used to. Some people get dizzy for a while trying to adjust. My point is, even though it is eye surgery and not a joint replacement, still be sure to be careful with your movements for a while.

Best of luck, and God bless you and the surgeons.

Thanks everyone! Well today is the day! I have to be up there in about 4 hours to get the surgery done. I am kinda surprised... I don't really feel like I am a nervous wreck or anything. I am much calmer about it then I thought I would be.

I am however afraid that I have my hopes for a complete success up a little too high. Even though I tried not to I found myself expecting the best outcome that can be expected. I can tell you now... if this day don't go as planned I am going to be very disappointed and upset.

Hey Pete,

Remember you've got nothing to lose. Do not expect too much, and then you can never be disappointed! Look at it as an ultimate attempt to get your eyesight back, but nothing more than an attempt. It is not an easy job and there's no way for your doctors to know what they'll find.

But the bottom line is: things can only get better. The question is: better by how much, and there's just no way to predict that.

Fingers crossed!
