As a newcomer I have noticed that at least in my case there are not that many heavy contributors to teh online database. It seems like there is a core set of people that do 90% of the work.
Now my exposure is limited since for the most part I only purchase blu-ray now and I import very few releases. So I am justcurious how many heavy contriutors are out there. You can get a good idea by just scanning this forum and you will get clues. Then just click on the person's link and you can view the number of accepted contributions. I recently did that for another purpose and found that less than a dozen people had made over 50,000 contributions alone. So yeah, there are some heavy hitters out there - and we love them! | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! I wasn't aware of this possibility, it's pretty nice Sometimes I'm also wondering of how spread out is the usage of DVDP, i started to travel to Hong-Kong and so to buy DVD there and I discovered that even the recent or the famous one are not present (in this case I always contribute but not the picture since I have no way to do so) Will be nice maybe one day to have stat about this |

| Posted: | | | | I tend to contribute in 'bursts', usually if I have a slow week at work when I save them all up for the weekend and send them in as a batch. I used to contribute more steadily (and probably more titles), maybe a couple at one lunchtime or similar, but when the program changed a while back the port (or some such network gubbins) that contributions were accepted on changed and work doesn't allow me to send out through the firewall - luckily other functionality is unaffected!
I like to do quite a few UK 'pre-release' contributions as this means when they're released and everyone gets to vote on all the updates rather than having the first one zip through and potentially be overwritten by worse data before other contributors can see it.
I can certainly see quite a few heavy UK contributors out there who have similar tastes to some of my collection (at least one I've 'accused' more than once that he must have an identical DVD collection to mine because I vote so often on his (great) updates on even rare titles in my collection!), and luckily they're pretty much all very good and accurate with their contributions.
I feel very lucky and priveledged that they're out there and, especially on updates that I know took a lot of work, make sure I thank them and often give a "green arrow" for their contribution to make sure they are aware they and their hard work are appreciated. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

I've just worked out that at my present rate of contributing, I’ll be around 4,594 years old when I reach 50,000. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

I especially love the contributors, who update their initial pre-release profile at least five times - and then everything turned out wrong. Or the invented UPC was not released at all. Thank you. I also love the countless contributions that do not add data anymore, but just fiddle with our current linking system. "add common name", "remove common name", "add birth year", "remove birth year", verified by Credit Lookup, or some thread. Thank you very much. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

It always amazes me that for popular films the number of contribution it takes to complete a profile and even then who knows if they are correct. Do they just give up. I seems to me there are a lot of people who just want rack up a big contribution count and do not give give a BRA on trying to donate a complete contribution and correct profile.
But then there are a very few people who do try to submit very complete and correct profile.
I thought I would try my hand at Maigret (1991), a French detective TV series. The cast would be no problem, but the crew would take a lot of translation. I thought to myself he is popular in Europe, so I checked the on line db. 104 entries, 2 were mine. So I down load the other 102 of them. Only 2 had any thing even close to being completed and they were for a different year thus a different actor. Later for that. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. | Posted: | | | | When I contribute its mostly basics and cast.
I don't both the crew for a few reason, ( I dont care is the first )
But I also don't fully get where some information is found or the proper way people want it submitted so I don't bother with it. Someone else wants to have at it go right ahead.
I fix what I notice, and add where I can.

Someone is not in a good mood...did someone piss in your wheaties or something? Just ignore him ... as i do ! It's just not worth it. He is a very lonely person and requires many attention. I know many users who are frustrated and stressed out of this lovely man and stopped contributing. Many many thanks. | | | Si on n'a pas ce qu'on aime, on doit aimer, ce qu'on a ! | | | Last edited: by MickySpoon |
