Question:
For a DVD with content in episodes (the primary example being a TV series) in which one can select episodes from the menu; would that count as fitting the "scene access" feature or not (which I think would imply that this feature goes without note in the profile)?

The Contribution rules defines Scene Access as "Menu option allowing access to individual chapters or scenes" but does not mention episodes directly (is a TV episode a "chapter?) and the "TV Series" section makes no reference to menu access of episodes at all.

No, it doesn't.

It may seem a little odd due to their similarity (it's a menu, and it shortcuts to a specific place), but Scene Access and Episode Access (which is not an actual feature in the program) are not the same.

If all that you have is a page where the first link sends you to episode #1, the second link sends you to episode #2 and so forth, then this is not considered a Scene Access feature. (It's Episode Access.)

However, if you have shortcuts that drop you off at specific points inside of an episode (eg: after the commercial breaks), these are considered Scene Access menus and the feature should be selected.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.

Exactly.... If all it took was scene access every multiple episode release I have seen would have it checked... not giving us any useful information... but only using it for series that has a menu option for scenes within the episodes gives us much better information.

That's cool, just wondered is all.

By the way that "first link sends you to episode #1, the second link sends you to episode #2 and so forth" is one way in which scene access is done in films as well; with a "scene access" of "scenes" menu, often numbered as well. So the similarity continues

Just like checking every DVD with "color" etc would do... unless on the rare occasion that you have a DVD that differs, there are one or two that don't have episode access, rare indeed but they do exist.

I would hardly call B&W and colorized anything even close to being rare. Nowhere near all DVDs are checked as as color.

Colorized is rare. From what I've been able to determine, there are only 200 or so total colorized DVDs out there. There are lots of black and white ones, though.

'Episode Access' and 'Scene Access' are definitely two different things. More so when you consider there is often 'Scene Access' within 'Episode Access' on certain discs.

I think we urgently need some guidance from Invelos as to what constitutes “rare”, or this will turn into one of those multi-page discussions that’s ends up needing to be locked.  I will raise a support ticket.  If someone could raise the issue in the rules forum, that would be good too.  From my prospective, using the same 10% figure as we do for determining if a film is black and white, might be a good starting point.

As someone who’s already crowned himself the self appointed “King of Colorization” in a previous discussion, I’d just like to point out that based on Ace's figure, I own copies of 11.5% of the entire universe’s output of different colorized DVDs, so I obviously know a lot more about these things than anyone else, which by association also makes me far more knowledgeable about the intent of the use of “rare” than anyone else to.

I’d also like to point out that despite the mental distress it’s caused me, I’ve used the spelling "colorized" here, to fit in with the way it’s spelt in The Rules and to enable Americans to understand what I’m saying.  The correct spelling is, as everyone really knows, colourised.  A “rare” example of a word Americans can’t spell correctly twice.  And to think, the overuse of the "zee" (or "zed" as it's properly pronounced), was only introduced to enable Americans to get higher scores in Scrabble than anyone else too.  (The frequent removal of the letter "U" sadly has somewhat more negative undertones.)

Happy New Year everyone, or “Polio a kip file” as we say in these parts!
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Lol, spiky. I can read the queen's English just fine. It's not my fault she can't spell.

Best response should be your best flower girl Eliza Doolittle.

Bollocks!  Do we pronuce 'E' 'Ed', 'D' 'Dead', 'B' 'Bed', 'C' 'said', 'G' 'Ged', 'P' 'Ped', or 'T' 'Ted'?

Like many things the spelling of color and the pronunciation of 'Z' are just a few examples of American fixed England's mistakes!

For your information Mr Skip sir, she's called The Queen actually.  Just like sticking British stamps on envelopes wonky, not using a capital letter for Her Majesty’s title is considered treason here.  I'd strongly advise you to take legal advice before travelling to the UK at anytime in the future, as you’re likely to be arrested as soon as you arrive and thrown in The Tower.

I didn't know what this meant so I Googled it, but I can't seen what the San Antonio Independent School District has to do with anything here.

Lol.  It's good to see a classic bit of Limely swearing can get past the forum defence perimeter.  One of my favourite words!  Then again, as demonstrated by the famous Sex Pistols album cover court judgement, it’s not actually a swear word anyway.

This proves nothing.  "Ed", "Dead', "Bed', "said', "Ged", "'Ped" and "Ted" are all words or names in their own right, but Zed isn't, so it would be confusing.  Imagine the problem if a small child wanted a new soft toy (ted) and the parents got confused and ended up sending their son or daughter all the way to India to visit a tea plantation?  Or the concern saying you’d been sung by a bed would cause; you’d end up in hospital alright but with the wrong sort of doctor.  And I’m sure I don’t need to explain the problems that Dead and Ped could cause.  No, I think you’ll find that the American way of pronouncing things is a little like a rebellious teenager not doing things the way his/her parents want him/her to.  They’ll get over it eventually.  I have to say, I’m very disappointed to see one of The Queen’s subjects questioning Her language in public.  I suggest you too take some legal advice; you may find yourself being extradited and made an example of sooner than you think.

You may find this helpful:
