Bill Van Daleen (15/165)
William Van Daalan (2/120)

Hello guys.

I have this doubt about this Sound Editor.
It is very likely that it is the same person...

Bill Van Daalen's filmography stops at 1995.
In 1996 we find William Van Daalan, with his only credit.

My doubt arises from an assonance between the two names...

What do you think?

As so often with such crew members who aren't huge stars, it's pretty much impossible to be 100% certain, but I would certainly expect these two name variants to refer to one and the same sound editor, yes - certainly with these filmographies and their timeline. It all fits together, and the notion that a separate William Van Daalan actually exists, with only one credit to his name, actually seems significantly less likely than being just another misspelling of Bill Van Daalen's name.

Bill Van Daalen is the sound editor in two films directed by Roland Emmerich and William Van Daalen's only credit is in the Roland Emmerich-directed Independence Day so it is extremely likely they are the same person with him credited using the longer version of his first name in Independence Day.

I have submitted a request to merge the two on IMDb.

BILL VAN DAALEN
...

Independence Day@2:22:30

Complete list of Common Names  •  A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1)

This means that someone follows our discussions.
I think there are no more doubts about this person...

I sent a request to merge the two people on IMDb, though don't know whether I can take credit for this!
