I am a bit frustrated about one of my contributions being declined. This in the one in question:

I had created 4 fully audited child profiles and added them to this parent. And at the same time I corrected what I considered an incorrect title. The title was (and still is) Great Sci-Fi Classics: Volume 3. Nothing resembling that title appears anywhere on the cover, so I changed it to Sci-Fi: Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe/First Spaceship on Venus/They Came from Beyond Space/Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet. That is a handful, but it reflects what's on the cover.

I had only one vote, and it was a No vote with this comment:
Quote:
There are currently 7 different profiles in this series of DVDs. Great Sci-Fi Classics: Volume 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. There are at least 11 volumes in this series that exist. All known on-line as  "Great Sci-Fi Classics: Volume 'x". Check it out on-line.

I have no reason to question the facts that the voter presents. But I find that the rules are clear - Use the title from the front cover. There are several clarifications to this rule, but I see nothing that supports the notion of taking a totally different title just to harmonize it with other equally questionable titles, or because they are known as something else online.

I was disappointed, but not entirely surprised, to find that this one No vote resulted in the contribution being declined. I had hoped that the screener would take the actual rule into account, but apparently not.

Now I wonder if Ken or Gerri has ever made any statement that supports this voter's view? Or am I just too anal about this title?

Per the rules, you can use the back for some clarifications if necessary.

Not that I know. And all the titles in the series that are in the online database have the same type of cover layout.

There is nothing on the back (or the spine) that resembles that title.

Not for boxed sets.  Per the rules:
Quote:
The title for a Box Set should be the title listed on the front cover, for example Alien Quadrilogy

This contribution being declined for one lone "no" vote just proves how broken the contribution/voting system is.

That "rubber stamp"-like processing of contributions is indeed the worrying thing here...

Just recontribute and hightlight the fact, that the contribution was declined because of an invalid vote. Screeners take a personal look on negative voted contributions.

whenever I get a vote like that I would update my notes quoting the rules. Then it usually goes through.

Whenever already declined I resubmit and note the rule. If I still get the no vote update the notes to show where the vote is not per rules.

It works for me.

I would re-contribute without the Sci-Fi part. That just seems randomly put on there, like a tagline or something. Just use the 4 titles with the / between each one.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

My take too.
It's just a Genre.
Would be the same if it was Action, or Romance or Western or whatever. Now if it had on the cover something like Sci-Fi: 4 Film Collection that that would be included with the title. But it doesn't, so I'd do just the titles of the films.

In this instance Sci-Fi does seem to be the set title, but I would agree with getting rid of the parts of the title not found on the set, and I agree with others that you should resubmit. I've managed in the past to remove stuff from a set like Volume 3 when I couldn't find a volume number on the front, back, or spine, and no one seemed to object.

Yeah, this is what the spine looks like:

So I don't see it as just a tag line.
