| Posted: | | | | A fellow contributor wants to add a group divider to the writing credits of the German film "Der Vorname" (4011976342786). The group is for the two writers of the original play the film is based on. Is that a correct use of the group divider? | | | Bye, Elwood |

... initially group dividers were meant to reflect grouping of actors in the cast credits, a vehicle to stay as close to the credits as possible.
From this point of view, I can understand the urge to transfer the headline (for what the group is really credited) into the crew section. ... and I use group dividers to show the song title for song writer credits, too.
But from my point of view, the detailed job description (I'd assume original material in this case) should be sufficient for the writers. | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | First I was going to say no, but thinking about it more I think it would add context to the credits.
I mean, when one looks at the writing credits and there are many listed with different attributes you simply don't know exactly why.
For example the Original Material by credit, well unless you know the movie you have no idea as to what that Original Material is. Was it a book, a novel, another movie or whatever? |

"Based on the Play By" does not qualify for a group header, just like, say, "Sound Mixed by" does not qualify for a group header, or "Make-up Artist to Robert De Niro" does not qualify for a group header. All that kind of information ony belongs in the "Custom Role" field of the crew section - it should never be put into dividers. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | I was under the impression dividers were for stuff like episodes or movies on discs with multiple features. Like say you have a disc with 5 episodes of an anthology series, that would divide the different actors into groups |

Also use episode dividers for full cast division, such as "Japanese Voices".Use Group dividers to designate cast grouped in the credits such as "Soldiers" or "Additional Cast". | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
