kkcm352  posted this in their contribution:

changed episode list in Overview and updated Disc Info to rectify episode numbers for handling of cross-over episodes between the associated TV series. The complete episode 8 is 4 parts spread across the other TV shows. The cross-over episodes are included on the disc set but should not be counted as additional episode numbers for the series. For example, the last episode for the 6th season of Arrow was episode 23, not 26. I am suggesting a similar update across the four series: Supergirl S03, Arrow S06, The Flash S04 and DC's Legends S03.

NOTE: the numbers used in the disc menu are not the Episode numbers, but just the order of the entries on the disc. Check any listing for the episodes and you will see the mismatch between the menu numbers and episode numbers.

I think we need to go by the disc menu for the episode numbering for TV series. If not I have come up with a compromise:

8a. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 1
8b. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 2
8c. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 3
8d. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 4

for the episode list in the overview.

Also, the disc info description should just be: Episodes 8-10

What do you think?

I have no intention of buying any of these series on disc, so it ultimately doesn't matter to me, but that just doesn't sound right unless I'm reading it wrong. Personally, I would just count the Arrow episodes in order like any other TV series, and treat the 3 extra episodes of the arc from the other series as bonus content.

The same thing will be cropping up again soon with the Crisis on Infinite Earths 5-part crossover event. If I'm not mistaken, the Arrow set will contain all the crossover episodes, and each of the non-Arrow episodes will also appear on their respective shows' sets as well.

The Dick Wolf "Chicago" franchise is also big on crossovers but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on how to deal with them.
These are screenshots from the American profiles of Chicago P.D. season 2 (UPC 025192271878) and Chicago Fire season 3 (UPC 025192271847). Both sets contain the same crossover episodes (which are an integral part of the narrative) from their respective view yet both sets deal with them completely differently:

My take is if the episodes are included with the others series episode list on the disc menu include them in the cast/crew sections.
If they are specifically only included on the bonus materials section of the disc menu then they shouldn't be included in the cast/crew sections.

Since they were included with the other season episodes, they were included with those episodes.

8. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 1
9. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 2
10. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 3
11. Crisis on Earth-X: Part 4

I just picked up Arrow season 8 on Blu-ray at Walmart Canada and it handles things a bit differently than previous crossovers: the Arrow episodes them themselves appear together on two discs (being a shortened season) while the Crisis on Infinite Earths event has its own disc, which is said to be a "Limited Edition Bonus Disc" so later copies might not have it. for now those, this does mean that one episode appears twice (as Season 8 episode 8 on disc 2, and as Crisis on Infinite Earths part 4 on the bonus disc). I imagine the disc will appear in the other series as well. That being the case, for this specific crossover it makes sense to have one set of numbering for the Arrow discs (or whichever the host show is) and a separate set of numbering for the bonus disc.
