| Posted: | | | | So far I got 7 new profiles, declined because of a birth year. Well, as I took the whole cast & crew from the parrent profile without any change (and there is now newer version available), those birth years are part of the parent profile. So I don't understand and am barely able to accept that the child profiles are declined. What I am talking about is "Star Trek Enterprise: Season 1" disc 1 - 7 So I'd like to say: Before the profiles could be declined there has to be a change in the parent profile! |

| Posted: | | | | Did you have to check any boxes for these birth years at the bottom of the contribution page?
Because if you did, then they aren't in the database and if you just checked the boxes without noting why they are needed, then the contributions will get declined. |

| Posted: | | | | This idea might me stop contributing! Profile like the declined ones have 3 - 4 episodes each. Creating them means spending time. But checking each profile for cast & crew with birth year (altough the data is part of an official profile) and then checking the database if the birth year is neccessary means spending simply too much time. |

It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | German DVD , thanks in advance!
Not to mention: Before I create child profiles, I check the parent profile for updates and as there are none, it should be sure that the data is correct |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Magmadrag: Quote: Before the profiles could be declined there has to be a change in the parent profile! The problem is most likely not in the parent profile online. The problem is the flawed birth year system. Let me explain with a made up example: You have a number of profiles that contain the actor Joe Blow. There is only one Joe Blow, so no birth year is needed. You download a profile that (for whatever reason) contains a faulty birth year of 1947 for Joe Blow. This updates your local actor table so that Joe Blow has that birth year. This means that all profiles with Joe Blow will now show a birth year of 1947. So, someone realizes that the profile that you downloaded is incorrect, they remove the birth year, contribute the profile, and you download the updated profile. This fixes the problem, right? Wrong! Downloading a profile without birth year does not remove the incorrect birth year from your local database. And if this is not bad enough, it also means that any new profile with Joe Blow that you add will also become contaminated locally with the incorrect birth year. The only way to get rid of the incorrect birth year is by editing the local actor information manually. So, you probably had the incorrect birth years in your local database before you downloaded the parent profile in question. And even if the fault actually is in that profile online, fixing it online will not fix it for you in your local database. Ain't birth years fun? | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. | Posted: | | | | Well, if it's this UPC, 4-010884-590715, I found the birth years of Matt Winston 1970, Jane Carr 1950, Robert Pine 1941 and Christopher Shea 1969. There were no crew birth years. Contributing it brought no check boxes, as CubbyUps stated for a birth year that needed to be documented. What birth year(s) and person or people were flagged? | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. | Posted: | | | | I don't know which ones, only can see this expalanation: Please use birth years only to distinguish between otherwise identical cast and crew. New birth year submissions must be documented. |

| Posted: | | | | I would change your standard text to something like "cast & crew are from the parent profile, any birth years are present in the parent profile and no check boxes for these birth years were present and thus are approved birth years."
That really should be enough. |

Do you have more BYs in your parent profile, than the four mentioned by huskersports? - This can easily be checked by the "Preview Changes" function: | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

That assumes that the birth years actually are in the parent profile online, rather than just in the parent profile locally. Like AiAustria writes, a Preview Changes will tell if they are. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | @AiAustria: Like mentioned before: There weren't any updates for the parent profile! Before I take data from any parent profile, I check if there is any newer version. As there wasn't, couldn't do any automatic changes |
