| Posted: | | | | It's my understanding that only individual credits with valid titles (Visual/Digital/Special/Special Visual Effects, including Designer, Supervisor, and Director, and Special Photographic Effects) are valid credits. I've had to remove several mass-credited groups of VFX credits for this reason. Captain Marvel is the latest example. There were several VFX groups that had the name of the company (Digital Domain, for an example not necessarily from this movie), then a whole bunch of people listed after that. No indication whatsoever what their job title or what they did for the company...just names. Those are not valid credits. For all I know, the DD office cleaning crew could be among those names. Thoughts? | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | I'm one of the guilty parties for entering those groups of names. I will no longer do that and when I run into the ones I have done, I will fix them, if someone already hasn't, and resubmit for approval. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | The way the rules are written it sounds like this thread took it out of context. Quote: List individual credits only, not company name credits. Exception: If a company name heads a group of crew, use the Group divider to enter the company name |

| Posted: | | | | Since this thread was used to justify the removal of (still) valid entries, I'd like to reference the according polls... There was a thread in the rules forum with the intention to invalidate these entries, but the response was negative: This was affirmed in in this forum: A valid poll allows this type of credit. Back then all information including the remarkable wording "Individual credits" was available; nothing relevant changed. Although I voted No back then, per the rules any individual credits are still valid! | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | I strongly disagree. Both the contribution rules ("Individual Credits" only) and this thread agree that we shouldn't include these. I'll gladly take the opinions in *this* recent thread over pointing to a discussion that's over ten (!) years old in the rules forum, which wasn't and isn't even accessible to most users. As so often in the DVD Profiler community, true consensus is hard to find, but that's my stance, and I'll stick with it until Invelos tells us otherwise.
And indeed, a couple of posts up you wrote: "Agreed. Masses of employes without job description do not qualify for listing." Those were wise words, and you were absolutely right. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Those were wise words, and you were absolutely right. ... my personal opinion and I stick with it. But the rejected trial to clarify the rules in that direction can't be ignored... I won't add them to a profile personally, but as I judge them as valid, I refuse the removal and count them for common name threads. | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | If you do a little more research on those groups, most of the time 95% of the names in those list are visual effects artists which we don't list when they're listed as such. Not knowing what they have really done I agree to not list those groups.
The same for Special Effects which have a similar problem. Most of the time the people listed under special effects are just Special Effects Technicians. But unfortunately the majority still wants to list those special effects groups. |
