Hello everyone. I've been a customer for a lot of years and I simply just add my DVD's in as I get them. Heck I even saved all the receipts for the movies in hopes that one day I can sit down and put the prices, the places, and the dates in. LOL

So I haven't had much time to play around with it and really only paid attention to it now on my newest DVD.

It always asks if I want to add the Child Profile for the movie and I always say yes. This happens of course when I purchase a Blu-ray for example and it comes with a DVD or when I purchase a box set.

Although it says I have 1,173 DVD's, I know I don't have that many cases. Is there any way to figure out how many cases I have?

On the disc profile, under personal information, there's a spot that says "count as". You can set the child profiles to 0, instead of 1. Example: if my "Owned" list says I have 1,000 titles (including child profiles), set the child profile to "count as" 0. This brings down my owned list to 500, the actual number that I have. In my case, for multi-title box sets (Transformers for example), I set the parent profile to 0, so the system doesn't count it as a title. Hope this helps.

My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

Changing "count as" is fine if you're looking for a permanent change of how your profiles are counted.

If you're just looking for an occasional count of your boxset parents, you would need to take advantage of some external program, for example ProfilerQuery.

If you are going to change "count as", you would probably benefit from taking a look at BulkEdit, since changing them one by one would likely drive you crazy ...

That or using DVD/Copy and Collection/Flagged/Paste to a pre-filtered and flagged list, as you can paste "Counted as"

The preferred method. BulkEdit was invented before copy/paste was available, so many of the things you could originally only do with it, have been replaced by copy/paste.

You could also use "tags". I have a tag for Movie and the only ones that get it are the parents and TV show season profiles. I only give the parent the "count as" number 1 except box sets of more than 1 movie which the parent gets a 0 and each movie gets a 1. Bottom line, my Movie tag and collection count should always be the same.

It works for me.
