Typically, in the past what I've done was if something was missing, I just found another match that was close enough. This came out to about 200 titles. I've gotten through most of the horror movies, and most so far were alternate Lion's Gate releases with UPCs that differ only slightly with the identical disk IDs or Canadian versions not yet added, again, often with the same disk ID as the US release, just with bilingual sleeves. Ironically, these often have the English/French sleeves, but no French on the disk itself, just the English/Spanish. The odd patterns one notices when you do a large batch of submissions in a short period of time. A couple days ago attempted to submit an entry for a Japanese version of a movie called Naked Blood. The DVD was released back in 2002, largely before the whole extreme horror and torture-porn craze. This DVD has a non-standard 14 digit bar code and is the typical cheap Japanese-type release, but it gets the job done. Back in 2003, when I added this to my original DB the barcode worked fine and I can see it in there with the barcode. I remember when the barcode was expanded to require the full 12 digits rather than the 10, but when, and why was the functionality for longer barcodes removed? Was it at the same time? | | | Last edited: by 69samael69 |
