MadRockatansky and I, we have discussed a little bit on this topic in private. Here the outcome...
IMDb claims them to be two different persons. What hardens this statement?
- Especially the listing for
Paulie DiCocco includes many entries - like uncredited driving jobs - which need a really deep insight in the production process. This should allow the conclusion, that the information is substantial...
- All three movies,
Paul A. DiCocco, Jr. - I call him son for simplification - appears in, are also included in the list for
Paulie DiCocco - I call him father for obvious reasons:
-
The Two Jakes: the father drives for Harvey Keitel; the son acts as
Liberty Levine -
Ironweed: the father drives around Jack Nicholson, while the son gives a Bus Driver
-
Come See the Paradise both are listed as actors
On the other hand, all three movies leave space for doubt:
-
The Two Jakes: the father is claimed to drive for
Harvey Keitel, while he is known to be the driver of
Jack Nicholson, director and main actor.
-
Ironweed:
Paul A. DiCocco, Jr. gives a Bus Driver, which is the profession of the father
-
Come See the Paradise both are listed for the same role, which clearly is wrong.
... and further more, for
Forrest Gump the father is listed as actor
and driver for
Tom HanksAside from the IMDb information the research lead to the following pieces of information:
Though we searched for, we could not find a relevant
Paul A. DiCocco, Sr. nor a
Paul A. DiCocco.
The only plausible father for
Paul A. DiCocco, Jr. seems to be the mobster
Paul DiCocco, Sr..
And here starts the crux:
- according to trustworthy information sources
Paul DiCocco, Sr. was set to jail in 1977 and died in 1989, which excludes him from the list of humans, who possibly could be behind any of the IMDb profiles.
- This
article claims him to be the father of
Paul A. DiCocco, Jr.:
Quote:
... His son, Paul A. DiCocco, Jr. is a driver for actor Tom Hanks. ...
Another
source hardens the fact, the
Jr. was the driver for a numerous amount of celebrities:
Quote:
... Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, John Cusack, Robin Williams all were DiCocco's VIP passengers since 1987...
In the same article we can find the following bit of information:
Quote:
... He [...] throws in an aside about landing bit parts in eight movies ...
Doing the maths, this is exactly the number of acting roles IMDb lists for both of them:
- Chow Bella
- That Thing You Do!
- Forrest Gump
- Billy Bathgate
- Come See the Paradise
- The Two Jakes
- Liberty Levine
- Come See the Paradise
- Ironweed
Bottom line: With all this information revealed, I'd say, that IMDb is wrong once more, and agree with MadRockatansky, that these two profiles belong to one single person.
