The British Blu-ray of The Wages of Fear has 3 audio tracks on it.
The normal French audio track, a commentary track with a film critic and a third rather special audio track.
It's a 99 minutes long conversation between director Henri-Georges Clouzot and Don Allen.
When you choose this interview in the special features menu the film plays with the interview as audio tracks.
Since the interview only goes for 99 minutes the rest of the film is played with its normal French audio.
So this audio track is half interview and half normal French audio.
In which way would you enter this track in the audio track section?
As commentary track or as others?

Other, since it seems not to be commentary at all.

I have not voted yet, but if the interview is about this film, I would consider it commentary. If it's just an interview I would consider it an interview.

According to the back cover it's an interview from 1989 about Clouzot's entire career.

If it does not specifically address this film (only), I would treat it as Other.

This is a bit iffy, if you ask me.

I have a number of titles that contain "commentaries" that are in fact interviews that are only partially addressing the title in question. But they are listed as commentaries on the back cover. Should these be reclassified as interviews?

I would only classify it as commentary if it was recorded specifically for the film. It can go off on tangents of course but it has to have been commissioned for the feature in question, and not just be some random interview/panel discussion from years ago.

I understand and I agree to some extent. But ... this makes contributing much more difficult. Up until now, everyone seems to have followed the principle that if it is presented as a commentary, it is profiled as a commentary, regardless of the actual content. Many of the Bond films, for example, have commentary tracks that are comprised of various interviews that are not done specifically for the film in question.

I assume that the track that the OP is asking about is not specifically labelled as a commentary, so that makes it a bit different. But if the argument for it not being profiled as a commentary is only that it isn't specifically about the film, then that seems to open a can of worms.

When an interview is labeled as audio commentary I would list it as such, no matter what the exact content is.
I agree, distinguishing here would make contributing more difficult.
But here the interview isn't listed as commentary.
The text on the back cover states:
The Guardian Lecture: Yves Montand in conversation with Don Allen (99 mins, audio only): recorded in 1989, the star discusses his distinguished career
When I checked this feature I was expecting a black screen or some kind of freeze frame while playing it, not an additional audio track while the main feature is being played.
For now, I contributed it as an Other track. So for only Yes votes.
