--------------- Except that 'Background Artiste' doesn't automatically translate into 'Background Actor'. When I read it, my immediate thought was that they were artists that worked on the background set pieces. That being said, I did a little research, and it seems that these people were, in fact, extras that played ladies who were on strike...hence the term 'strikers'.
