| Posted: | | | | I've contributed new images for the Marine (EAN #8712626035107) They're declined for the second time without any reason given. The first time it was part of a larger contribution. I thought I've added not enough info about the update so I've contributed the images again with all the improvements. Can anybody tell me why the new images are declined. Unfortunately the forum doesn't allow larger pictures, but these are the improvements -New covers are brighter to match the actual covers better. -New covers are also sharper. ie see text overview. -New covers are cropped better. ie See the bottom of both the front and the back cover, right side of the front cover and the left side of the backcover. -New covers have no annoying yellow lines or glow on the front cover. Those lines and the glow aren't on the actual covers as well. -New covers have no spots. Because Invelos don't give a reason at all why they've declined the new covers I was wondering if somebody else can tell me why the covers are declined. |

| Posted: | | | | I have a similar experience with some image contributions: declined with no reason given. I suspect the screeners follow the first sentence of the rules very strictly: Quote: "Before submitting new scans of cover art, make sure your new covers are of significantly higher quality than the existing online images" Higher quality is not enough. A certain (unspecified but significant) threshold of improvement is required. | | | Last edited: by Wigram |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Wigram. The quality must be significantly higher, not just a slight improvement. Also, because image quality is subjective, what you think is good may not be the same as what the screeners see as good. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | You can use a third party image hosting site to post higher quality images for comparison such as imgur.com. Or you can post a direct link to those sites for review.
I disagree with the "significantly higher" theory, and I have my own speculations, but I've seen many image contributions be approved that I wouldn't classify as being "significantly higher", but were improvements none the less. |

| Posted: | | | | You're right. Forgot to mention that. There were no votes at all. I've added better images. Original front New front Original back New back |

| Posted: | | | | Your scans are clearly an improvement, certainly the front cover. Still, if Invelos doesn't want them, so be it. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, they are definitely better, especially the reds. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | I would consider these significantly better.
You should definitely resubmit them. I would even make a note that stating the screener made a mistake and point out this thread. |

| Posted: | | | | If Invelos doesn't want them, that's fine to me, but I'm still curious why Invelos declined them twice now. The last time I've asked to send me a PM with the reason. I'll contribute them one more time with a link to this thread. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll be the voice of dissent here; I dont think they are significantly better. The faces in the new images have a slightly yellowish tint, IMO.
At any rate, how can anybody judge colours without the original cover in front of their eyes? | | | Last edited: by Wigram |

| Posted: | | | | I say the front in particular are significantly better, I can see yellow vertical lines. | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

I believe they are significantly better (the compression artifacts in the reds on the existing covers are horrible), and that the lack of any "yes" votes has been the problem. It almost makes me wonder if the approval system is using automation here rather than eyes on the images. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have this title to vote upon, but just to throw in another opinion from these older eyes.... The only significant differences that I see between Original and New covers are the deeper reds and clearer text on the Back Cover. I would probably vote YES on these changes if I could. |

At any rate, how can anybody judge colours without the original cover in front of their eyes? You are not alone here. I really see very little difference on the two covers. At least with my monitor and my eyes the original overview is much more readable. I see no vertical yellow lines in either version. That being said it is hard to judge without the cover right in front of me. If I was a screener and this one came up without any votes I would have to decline with reason of no significant improvement. You must remember the screeners don't have the cover in front of them so unless there is votes to help them know how it is compared to the actual cover all they can go by is their monitors and their eyes. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |
