| Posted: | | | | So, this recently came up and I'm wondering what people think. So, for discs with Atmos, systems that cannot output it will instead do TrueHD 7.1 (and for DTS:X to DTS-HD MA). So the question is, along with Atmos (or DTS:X), should TrueHD (or DTS-HD MA) also be included? IMO, unless there is a separate track with those, they should not. |

| Posted: | | | | Reviving the thread because this best fits here: A user is proposing to add separate Dolby TrueHD audio tracks to the German Ultra HD Blu-ray profiles of "Terminator: Dark Fate" and "Thor: Ragnarok". His argument is that the Dolby Atmos tracks, which are included on those discs, have a Dolby TrueHD core. Since there are Dolby Atmos tracks with a Dolby Digital Plus core (Warner has done that in the past with some German releases) I can understand his profile submissions. Unfortunately, DVD Profiler has no official way to store this information. So, what is the opinion of other users? No. Having an old black-and-white TV wouldn't justify a contribution with the black and white colour box checked. Dolby Atmos and DTS-X are unique soundtracks and profiles should reflect that. |

Of course not, the rules are very clear, we list the encoded tracks on the disc, not the decoded tracks reported by incompatible home systems. Spot on. Every Dolby Digital 5.1 track decodes to Dolby Surround Pro Logic, but we don't enter that as a 'Dolby Digital Dolby Surround' soundtrack unless one is also present on the disc. |

Because Dolby Digital Plus is a lossy codec and Dolby TrueHD is lossless, Dolby True HD provides the potentially better audio quality. For me, that is valuable information. As I see it, the only way to store this data at the moment is via an extra Audio track for the Atmos core. No problem if this is not welcome. I keep it local then.

Regards Dieter You can do it, but you have to keep it local. The rules are quite clear what to include: Quoting The rules: Quote: Select the appropriate content type and format type for each track.
List each Commentary track as a separate entry. List audio tracks in the order in which they are encoded on the disc, determined via your DVD player or DVD-ROM drive.
Use the Audio specified on the DVD Cover unless you can verify there is a discrepancy between that and the actual Audio included on the disc. When contributing accurate, DVD based Audio, include your verification method in your Contribution Notes.
Include all audio tracks which are selectable via one or more of the following:
The disc menu The player's Audio Track selection button Autoplay when the content is started
Note: Select Mono for both 1-channel and 2-channel mono. These core tracks are no seperate encoded audio tracks by any kind, so don't include them in any contribution to the online database. As Nosferatu said, we don't include black & white just because an old black & white TV shows black & white if you play an colour movie on it.
