| | Posted: | | | | I found out from the retailer that I bought my equipment from that if the receiver can handle Dolby atmos but you don't have all the speakers necessary in my case it went to the highest audio on the disc which in my case is Dolby TrueHD 7.1.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the cover says its dolby atmos it should be listed on the audio menu. |

| | Posted: | | | | While I could understand that your receiver displays 7.1 if you have set it up to not include atmos speakers, (and also have the receiver display set to show output instead of input) that should in no way have any influence on what you see as audio options on your TV-screen IMO. |

| | Posted: | | | | Dolby atmos is a Metadata soundformat that is laid on top og the True HD 7.1 mix if you only have 7.1 speakers it will then only use the True HD 7.1 mix in the Dolby Atmos Stream. if you set up your home cinema for 5.1.2 then it will use the Atmos metadata and use the Height data in the bitstream. I have a Dolby Atmos AVR and used it for 7.1 in the beginning. i rewired my speakers (the height speakers comes out of the surround back terminals, and put the surround back speakers in the normal surround speaker output) and set it up using the microphone, and now i can listen to Dolby Atmos albeit in 5.1.2 you should try it.  And most DVD menus just saus Dolby True HD 7.1 so they would not confuse people, because they would not choose Dolby Atms, if they didnt have it. and since Dolby Atmos is just a Core True HD 7.1 it doesnt matter newer releases though states Dolby Atmos/True HD 7.1 on the menus. |
