I own a DVD, which is known by DVDP.
I just bought the same movie, as a Blu-Ray.
DVDP does not know the BR EAN.
So I add it, and manually enter the title.
But DVDP tells me that I already own this title and does not allow me to add it with the new format.
What can I do?

OTOH how can I tell DVDP to use data from the DVD for the BR?

You have to "Add by UPC".
If the EAN you enter is not in the db, select "Add to Owned" (or whereever you want to add).
You should then be prompted to validate the EAN, enter the title and select the proper region and locality.
