I submitted four profile updates with improved images on 23/06/17 and things I have submitted since then have been looked at by the screeners, approved and released, with these images-only updates still pending.

Has anyone else noticed whether there is a lower priority for contributions with changes to the images and not the profile, or is this just me?

I submitted an image only contribution on 6/25/2017 and one on 7/1/2017 and both have been approved.  Are your images controversial?

Are there votes on the contributions? If not, the processing is delayed.

... and the approval process currently is very slow: my oldest pending is from June 19th...

It seems a lot of contributions are being delayed for some reason. I voted for  a pending contribution from over 2 weeks ago and it's still pending. Another contribution I voted for is already 12 days old. So for the moment things seem to progress very very slowly.
Think different

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.

There's "first level"-reviewing of contributions, and then there's "second level"-reviewing - and the latter isn't done on a daily basis. If your contribution is deemed controversial in any way, it isn't processed together with your other contributions, but instead, it's left to the second level-reviewers, and that usually means that it's stuck in limbo for quite some more days, occasionally even weeks.

So while there are still contributions being reviewed, approved and released pretty much every single day, "second level"-reviewing is only done occasionally. It does seem that more and more contributions are getting the "second level"-reviewing treatment lately. There's nothing wrong with taking a closer look, but it really shouldn't take two weeks to get around to that.

Can't fully agree with this first/second level theory; except if unvoted contributions are tossed to second level for some reason...

Example from June 19th (meanwhile one yes-vote for about a week; I'm star contributor with nearly zero declines) with the following contribution notes:
Credits: Common name for Leo Catozzo as credited; BY for Angelo Rizzoli added.

I can't think of any reason why they would be. They are improvements on the existing cover scans, which were also contributed by me.

There aren't any votes, so that could be why there is a delay. Is it possible that priority is given to contributions when many people are interested in the outcome? That would make sense.

Don't think it is a kind of priority, but kind of lazyness: yes-votes-only contributions need no thorough checking, but can be waved through...

I had a profile only submission which had been submitted on 17 Jun 17 which had all positive votes.  Five days later (22 Jun 17) I submitted other contributions which were approved on 27 Jun 17; the 17 Jun contribution still hadn't been approved as of 1 July 17.  It seemed to be "stuck" in the queue, but a simple support inquiry fixed that.

At least 10 of my other contributions were released yesterday, some of which were contributed four days earlier, and the ones from June 23 are still pending!

Some more contributions have been approved today leaving half a dozen which was submitted before them, but contributing the images and not anything to do with the profile, seemingly ignored by the screeners.

It does look like images aren't treated the same as profile updates.

Honestly, I just feel like something wonky is going on with almost all contributions lately...    I'm not complaining, I know the behind the scene folks are busy with the new version and whatnot, but yeah, lots of weird stuff.

Examples:

Three brand new profiles all submitted on the same day, right after each other (relatively speaking as it takes some time to enter a new profile from scratch). One approved 2 days later, one approved 3 days later, one approved 5 days later.

Mid/Late June, I had a number of brand new profile submissions take 8 days to be approved (that's a REALLY long time for someone to have to wait for a new profile to be added to the system).

Yesterday, submitted a new profile for Kino's The Crucible release from April which hadn't made it's way into the system, approved no less than 45 minutes later. Released last night... today it shows that only the images were approved and released while the profile is still just "approved".

Updated all profiles in the system for The Barefoot Contessa on June 28th. Approvals went through for all but one on July 3rd. That one that wasn't approved is still sitting there unapproved today, 9 days later.

Things are just a little wacky these days it seems.
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

And honestly, I'm a little scared for when the new version is actually released lol. I've seen some folks saying they have 200/300 updates they've completed that they haven't yet had a chance to submit. When all those updates flood the system (and I honestly can't wait for them as it seems that fewer and fewer and fewer contributions are coming through my local these days) it's going to be kind of insane behind the scenes I think. If contributions are taking 9 days or more to get approved now, when thousands of extra contributions come roaring through...
