In the last couple of weeks i have seen many contributions in which the source for the change is given as "from press-server".
What are these press-servers?
Are there any URLs to them?

They're most likely referring to the studios' press release sites which are only available to the media (i.e. journalists, reporters, reviewers, etc.). Thus, there is no way to verify the information unless you have an account to said site.

For example:

No idea if that is meant with that, but probably whoever contributed them has access to the server (or the part of the site of the recpective distributor in the country where the release is for) where people from the press (aka websites, Magzines) can get the information on to be released titles so they can write their articles before the actual release etc.

And if that's the case this should be considered inadequate documentation since it's not available to the general public.

So, would you "vote No" to future contribution with that contribution source?

I'd ask the contributor. If he seems reliable and the answer is OK, I'd vote yes.

Of course, they are against The Rules. The only authoritative source for information submitted is the DVD itself.

This would be a fine source for SRP or pre-release info.

I personally don't see how anything I (or I should say everyone and anyone) can not check and read with my own eyes can be a reliable source.

This whole discussion piqued my interest, so just for the heck of it, I registered. I wonder if it will be approved, and if so, what info will I see. Hmm ...

I've used press releases I receive (e-mail) for pre-release contributions (mainly for things like features, overview, audio tracks etc, never cast or crew). Not often but it's reliable and can always be changed/updated once the title is released.
