| Posted: | | | | Hello guys, Have a question if there is an option to add movies to a particular group as a franchise. For example all batman movies to Batman franchise. I know I can do that with tags, but is there any built in option in DVD profiler other than tags or search to see all my movies that I have in a particular franchise? |

| Posted: | | | | You could use "Sort Title" section to group them. Be sure and number them using 01, 02 etc. so those groups with more than 9 titles sort properly. |

Tags work so well for this I wouldn't hold my breath that a feature to address this specific issue will be added any time soon. --------------- | | | Last edited: by scotthm |

You ask for a feature that exists, but then discount them with "other than ...". If the multiple ways (including custom collections) to do it don't work for you, how would you envision it working??? Maybe we are missing the point. Do you think the new TAG Favorites would help? Oh, have you looked at saving filters sets? You mentioned search, but maybe you are not aware you can save a canned search filter for easy use later. And there are command files that can execute a sequence of menus and filters, saved with file name. Could they be of any use? One thing that is missing is the ability to put a filter or command file on a Toolbar as a customizable icon. So far, only my plugin "MYTools" allows you to do that. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | I use tags for exactly this. Here's my tag system for the CW superhero universe: Or the MCU: And it works just fine for this. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I'd add an empty profile called Batman. Then I would simply add anything I wanted to that as a child profile. Basically you're building a boxset. It's just that you need a blank profile for the parent since there isn't a real one to download. If I wanted to sub-divide my Batman movies even further, I'd create more fake box sets under my Batman fake box set and assign movies to those child box sets. You can do a lot this way. This is actually how I have my TV custom collection setup. So when I look at TV, I see 24, Buffy, Babylon 5, Mad Men, etc. Actually, under Buffy, I have additional box sets for Buffy and Angel. I don't see the seasons unless I open up the "box set". Before custom collections came along, all those fake "box sets" were a child of a fake box set called "TV". I had some items about 5 levels deep. I also have a Holiday box set with child box sets for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc. I did the same with all my weird discs (concerts, documentaries, instructional stuff, etc). I have a "James Bond" box set. At one point I had a "Criterion" box set. It's a very nice way to group things and I think it's the solution you're looking for. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | The tags and sort titles work so well for this, nothing else is needed. For example: all my batmans are Batman 01 thru 08 under sort titles; all my James Bonds use both, James Bond 01 thru 25 (including Never Say Never Again) and a tag James Bond. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |
