| Posted: | | | | If a set comes with the movie on Blu-ray only, but has a DVD special features disc, do we enter it as a Blu-ray or a Blu-ray/DVD hybrid? I.e does format only go by the main movie or by all the discs in the set? |

| Posted: | | | | Good question. One of these in my collection actually contains the words: "This Blu-ray + bonus features DVD combo pack [...]" as part of the overview on the back cover. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Since we do not profile a special features or bonus features disk, then it is a blu-ray only profile,
It only becomes a combo pack, if the movie is also on the secondary media. |

There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

| Posted: | | | | This seemed to be the consensus from what's in the the DB as well. |

| Posted: | | | | While I agree that this isn't a BD/DVD combo, and should be listed as a BD only release, we DO profile bonus discs...! I have countless examples of box sets including movies + bonus discs where the latter have their own child profiles. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Alien, the list goes on and on for all franchises basically. Have I missed something insanely big and revolutionary or are we talking about different things? I think I'm right in interpreting this as "we shouldn't make profiles for bonus discs", when that's what we've always been doing since that feature was introduced. |

The rules state: "If a Box Set contains discs of Bonus Material for individual films, do not create separate profiles for these discs. Add the information to the individual film’s profile as normal for a single film 2-Disc set. If there is a disc of Bonus Material for all films included in the Box-set, create a separate profile for this disc." So no separate profiles for discs of Bonus Material for individual films, but a separate profile is allowed when a bonus disc applies to all movies in a box set. So the bonus disc in, for instance, the 'Indiana Jones' box set, or in the 'Back to the Future Trilogy' box set, those do get their own profile. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

So the rules may say that, but then why does for example the Alien Legacy have a separate profile for the bonus disc with the same name, which is only treating the first movie? The same goes for the "Gollum" disc that came with the LotR: TTT Gift Sets. It's a very specific documentary. I can name many other releases that has bonus discs which have been profiled. LotR: TFotR, Spider-Man, Apocalypse Now... These are single movies and not multiple movie box sets...! So where's the logic? We are not on the same page here because yet again the logic of how this database is built is irrational. | | | Last edited: by MikaLove |

But the LOTR: TTT the Gollum disc is a separate entry. That edition has it's own UPC and the children are the Extended Edition (with it's own UPC) and the Gollum Disc (NO UPC so Disc ID is the identifier) So that makes sense, at least to me! | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

The problem is that new contributions are virtually *always* accepted - even if those profiles shouldn't exist. |

They should be removed immediately, is all I can say. The problem is that new contributions are virtually *always* accepted - even if those profiles shouldn't exist. I was wrong about Spider-Man as an example, because the bonus disc included is "Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & Marvels", which can be bought separately. So it's only a box set. However, another example is "The Superman Motion Picture Anthology" which quite recently got the addition of the bonus disc "Superman and the Mole-Men" which sits along the first movie. It's a bonus feature film that earlier was described in the main profile's "other features". The same goes for the bonus feature film "Hearts of Darkness" included in the Full Disclosure edition of Apocalypse Now. So is it different for these bonus feature film discs? Rizor and Ace_of_Sevens are "behind" these contributions. I definitely have no problem with each of these bonus discs getting their own profiles and I would vote a change of rules for this reason. At the very least, the rules need to be updated so it's crystal clear to all contributors how you create disc profiles and which of these are valid. There are after all rules for creating "bonus feature films" profiles. So where do we draw the line? I don't think it's that obvious that we can't create profiles for bonus discs. For example, the Gollum disc is definitely a bonus feature film, as is the disc for LotR:TFotR ("Creating the Lord of the Rings Symphony"). Content on other discs may only be featurettes and the like... |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting MikaLove: Quote: So is it different for these bonus feature film discs? Yes, that's entirely different indeed. While a disc of bonus material for one film doesn't get it's own profile, a "Bonus Feature Film" does. "Bonus Feature Films" are specifically addressed in the contribution rules on the bottom of this page. | | | Last edited: by T!M |
