Tried to search for this.... no luck

I'm created a bunch of new profiles, some are versions of other profiles already contributed.

Can I copy or transfer info from an existing profile to another.

For example I'm creating The Hobbit trilogy I got from Japan. Not contributed, but loads of other versions are. It takes a lot of time to add every actor, crew member etc. manually. And especially with these films, I have to do it three times, as many of the cast and the film crew are the same.

Could I copy those infos from an existing Hobbit profile?

Makes sense?

Is this a technical question, how to copy the content, or is this a contribution question?

I'll try to answer the latter:
Yes, I copy from other profiles and contribute the result.
But:
• I am very careful, which profiles to copy - there are still masses of IMDB data and other mistakes in the db (contribution notes give a good feeling about how actively maintained a profile is; comparing against the on screen credits helps either).
• I include a documentation about the copying with the contribution notes (including the source UPC).
• If there are BYs and/or common names included, I comment on them in detail, to give the user, who refers to the contribution notes years from now, a chance to comprehend the data...
Complete list of Common Names  •  A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1)

Well I can see now it's a technical question. I get what you say. I just also need to know where and how to do it? :-)

Cheers

Download the profiles which could be interesting for copying (I for myself try to download more than one, to see differences in them) to the local database - either to the wishlist or to any other collection where you do testing, etc.

Then you can use the DVDP Menu|DVD|Copy and ...|Paste to copy the needed information. The paste function offers a detailed selection screen, which data should be pasted...

If you want to align more than one profile, there is a function to paste information into all flagged profiles under Collection|Flagged|Paste too.

But be careful: there is no undo function for neither paste operation.
