| Posted: | | | | Hi, Some of my entries refresh no problem when I add them to the database, but for the new entries that come up unknown when I enter the UPC they never update, when I chose Online > Refresh DVD from Invelos > Refresh Profile and Image (or just Refresh Profile) I get an error: Unable to Download File. Continue Anyway? I noticed an old post about this and tried everything in it... I have renamed the OnlineList.dod & OnlineListSel.dod ...these regenerated when I next did anything online and issue continues. I have done a database repair ... issue continues. I noticed there was a suggestion to add the IP to the hosts file here is what happened with that: Nothing in the hosts file: Quote: C:\Windows\system32>ping www.invelos.com
Pinging www.invelos.com [173.167.34.141] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out.

Added: 75.125.61.130 www.invelos.com to hosts file: Quote: C:\Windows\system32>ping www.invelos.com

I am going to assume the issue is due to these timeouts however I can't seem to find the current correct IP to pop into the hosts file. Could some kind soul please let me know what it is? Also why is this not effecting ALL new entries? Why do some refresh/resolve and not others? |

| Posted: | | | | Additional Info... I didn't include this in my original post as it isn't really relevant (this was happening long before I upgraded to my current system) but I figure someone will ask I'm running: Win 10 Pro 64Bit DVD Pro 3.9 Version: 3.9.1 Build 1657 I can dig out the rest if it is really necessary but I am reasonably sure the issue is the time outs? |

| Posted: | | | | Did you unlock the profile before updating? As you can lock the full entire profile or only parts of it. If there is a lock it will never update the profile. Please check this.

Continue Anyway? Yeah, that is the error you get when you try to update a profile that doesn't exist in the online database. To check if this is the case, try contributing the profile to the database - it will take you to a page where you can check the differences between the local version and the database version. My bet is there's nothing in the database version. And no, the error message doesn't make sense. Quote: I noticed there was a suggestion to add the IP to the hosts file here is what happened with that: The Invelos servers seem to have been set up to actively ignore ping-requests. If I try to ping or tracert Invelos, I will get no response - yet I know it works, as I'm currently on the forum... Besides, adding stuff to your hosts-file is generally considered a bad idea... If the Invelos servers changes ip-adress, nothing will work for you - and unless you remember that you put (now wrong) information in your file, you'll be pulling out hair trying to figure it out... | | | The future is here. | Posted: | | | | Regarding the refreshing of profiles, just thought I'd chime in. I recently spent a couple weeks getting my DVD database into better shape. As a starting point I decided to refresh all the profiles which I had never done, my DVD database having been started back when this program first came out. When refreshing all the profiles (2,454) I encountered quite a number of instances where the given profile no longer existed online. In most cases I found the profile I had downloaded originally contained an incorrect UPC, a typo having been made, the profile at some point being deleted from the online database, hence I wasn't able to update mine. Simple matter of finding the corrected profile and downloading it instead of course. Fun, fun, fun. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection | | | Last edited: by Lowpro |

| Posted: | | | | Hi all, Thanks for the answers, here are my responses... The profiles definitely are not locked... I know this because some of do eventually update and of course this is only effecting some profiles and not others and I am definitely not locking them manually it would have to be automated. However, just to be certain it isn't some odd glitch that locks unknown entries, I have double checked some of the problem profiles and they aren't locked. I think Rander & Lowpro have the right solution since they it only effects some profiles and even then some of them do eventually update. What I don't really get is that some of these profiles are for quite ahem high profile films and I find it surprising they aren't already in the system, especially since I usually buy them after they have been out for a while and are on some kind of offer Years ago when the software was quite new I did used to contribute by adding profiles, cover scans, etc but then I didn't need to do that for years, and now it seems it might be necessary again. I will do some digging and see how to search the database for specific profiles to link. Thanks for the help everyone |
