The current maximum size (see this debate discussing larger images) is 500 pixels wide and 700 pixels high. If your contributed image exceeds these boundaries, it will be resized (and further compressed) by the server software. The best way to retain a good quality image is to scan it to a lossless format type like BMP. Then do all the cleaning up and cutting. Then resize the image to the boundaries above. Then (you need to do this part only once) edit the profile, switch to Cover Scans and select File -> Adjust Compression. There you set it to 100%. Now you select your scans via the File -> Open menu. DVDP will automatically convert your BMP to JPEG automatically. And since you've respected the boundaries, your image will not be touched again upon contribution. HTH |
