| Posted: | | | | This is a more general question, not actually a problem with DVD Profiler. I have a Blu-ray drive, which consists of an Optiarc laptop drive in a USB case. It works great for a lot of Blu-rays, but some spin up, then never actually load or are recognized. This seems to largely be an issue with newer discs. For instance, I just bought the Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki and realized the contents are all wrong in the DB, but when I tried to add the discs, the only one my drive would recognize was The Castle of Cagliostro. What causes this? Is there a way to fix it? If a new drive would help, does anyone have recommendations? |

| Posted: | | | | What model and version of firmware do you have installed on the drive?
Sometimes it can be a drive firmware issue. At one point, the drive on my wife's laptop wouldn't recognize newer discs. The drive manufacturer had since released updated firmware to address certain issues but Dell never released an updated, OEM branded firmware. Luckily after a lot of research, and it wasn't easy, I was finally able to cross flash the firmware, from Sony no doubt, and it has recognized discs without issue to date. |
