| Posted: | | | | I'm struggling a bit understanding what I should do in a particular situation wrt alternate versions.
I have a DVD of Dr. No, UPC 027616066695, single disc inside, keep case I also have a collection called United Artists Cinema Greats that includes Dr. No in a thinpak with a different cover and no UPC.
It appears both discs have the same disc id. It also appears when the Cinema Greats collection was created the person who created it had UPC codes for the discs inside as the Dr. No that is under the collection has the same UPC as the single Dr. No disc I have.
As it stands the Dr No in the collection is the first one added, so the single disk doesn't appear if I stack boxed sets. I'd like both to appear. Seems like a time to use alternate versions, but I haven't figured out how to do that for both duplicate disc id and duplicate UPC. Guess my other option is to have a private version of the Cinema Greats without UPC's for the contained discs, just disc ids.
Thoughts and pointers appreciated. Thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | First things first: you have to strictly differentiate between "DiscID" in the Disc Info section of the profile, or a DiscID as part of the ID. (see this link for explanation)So in this case, IMHO the clean solution would be: Single-Edition UPC as ID, DiscID in the Disc Info UA-Collection Parent via UPC, no DiscIDs in Disc Info, as per Contribution Rules |- Child#1 via DiscID as ID, DiscID in Disc Info |- Child#2 via DiscID as ID, DiscID in Disc Info etc. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
