The Special Effects Collection (883929-458776) comes in a book-like form with each DVD in a cardboard "envelope" page.

Initially all 4 child profiles had the scan of the slip case. However someone recently replaced these with scans of each individual "envelope".

While I can understand the motivation for this, I question if this is correct according to the rules.

The original slip case should be used.

I myself use individuel covers for each child, at least local and I am sure most of the users not contributing would like it this way too. It is really ugly in the database to see in the main profile and then in 6 childprofiles erverytime the same cover. Really poor and bad looking. In Germany we have a lot of childprofiles with individuell covers online as everybody likes them, all are voting yes and it's done.

According to which rule? I can't see anything specifying.

From the Box Set Rules:
Quote:
Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not. Create each of these individual profiles in line with the standard Contribution Rules with one exception - Cover Images. If a film is individually packaged, use the cover images from that packaging.

While I could be wrong, based on that wording, if a film is not individually packaged, you would use the standard rule for cover images...which would lead us to using the scan of the outer case.  Now, I could see an argument being made to use the cover from the book, but not each individual page as those don't, in my opinion, qualify as individually packaged.

From my point of view it is not covered by the rules.

But I follow Fritz in this case: If there is something individual to the single discs (individual cover art, episode descriptions in the booklet, ...,  even the discs, if they are pretty) I use it. If I feel that my pictures are pretty I offer them to the community (against the rules); most of the time they are rejected anyways - not my loss...

By the way, the case type is currently listed as Special. Isn't this a Digibook?

I thought a digibook was one that had a book. This appears more like a custom similar to the Alien or Star Wars sets with discs held within an envelope like page.

Of course it is totally uncalled for. Just because we disagree on most things regarding the database he sees me as uncaring and destructive. When in reality I care about it just as much as I know he does. It is just that we see the database from different angles.

I was wondering this same thing... but it is different then the digibooks I have seen.... ones with actual paper pages with info (like a real book) so didn't know if these should be listed as digibook as well or if Custom was more correct for them.
