| Posted: | | | | The Blu-ray set of the classic Universal Horror films contains two versions of Dracula (1931). The first one is the "normal" US version, the other one is the Spanish version. Both films are on the same disc. The existing profile combines cast & crew in one profile (divided with episode dividers). Now I want to use the alternative version feature to separate both films. But I'm not sure how. I think there are two options: 1. Parent Profile Universal Horror Child Profile 1 Dracula (US) Child Profile 2 Dracula (Spain) or 2. Parent Profile Universal Horror Child Profile Dracula (US) Grandchild Profile Dracula (Spain)
I favor option 2 because the Spanish version of the film is available through the bonus feature menu.
It would be nice to hear some other opinions. | | | Think different
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. |

| Posted: | | | | I chose option 1, as on my set (UK Coffin Box Version) It lists on the back as having both versions English & Spanish. My set doesn't have any of the info for the Spanish version yet. I can see the reasons for option 2, but regardless I think it should be in there somewhere. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | Per the rules the alternate version feature can only be used for different films on the same side of a disc. These are two versions of the same film. Hence I don't think the alternate version feature can be used. |

Hence I don't think the alternate version feature can be used. This is not correct. Note that this is not a dubbing or an alternate cut. Both movies were filmed simultaneously with different cast & crew and some difference in the story as well. So they should be handeled as two separate movies (and they are in other databases like the IMDb). | | | Recently bought films:

| Posted: | | | | It is definitely different films... but to answer the question I would need to know how it is packaged. Is it sold as a box set... where both films are equally prominent on the cover? OR would it be a release for Dracula and also include the Spanish version of Dracula type thing... where it would be correct to use the Bonus Movie section of the rules... Rules Quote: Quote: Bonus Feature Films: The term "Bonus Feature Film" is used to define any feature film that is included as part of the bonus material for a single release. These are not the same as Double Features or Anthology Collections which are a collection of films grouped together which require the "Box Set" contribution rules. Do not confuse "Bonus Feature Films" with "Any video documentary material regarding the film, or those associated with it." Those are Featurettes. Some examples of Bonus Feature Films are:
Previous movie versions, example "Ben-Hur: Four-Disc Collector's Edition" which includes the 1925 version. Companion movie bonuses, example "Season of the Witch" which includes "There's Always Vanilla" from the same director.
Create the profile for the main feature in line with the standard Contribution Rules with the title of the Bonus Feature Film added to the Other Features field. Create a child profile for the "Bonus Feature Film" using its individual UPC if available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not available. If the Disc ID is already in use, create an alternate version Disc ID. When creating a child profile, do not remove the "Bonus Feature Film" Disc ID from the main profile. When profiling the "Bonus Feature Film", only profile the data associated with that film. Any features associated with the Main Feature belong to the Main Feature profile. Add the additional profile to the Main Profile as a child profile via the Box Set button. Cover Images: Use the cover image from the Main Feature profile's packaging. Exception: If the "Bonus Feature Film" is individually packaged, use the cover images from that packaging. So as you see it really depends on how it is packaged. It could either be... Option 1 or a way you didn't even consider... Dracula (1931) --Dracula (Spanish) | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | The German box lists 8 movies - Dracula - Frankenstein - Bride of Frankenstein - The Invisible Man - Phantom of the Opera - The Wolf Man - The Mummy - Creature from the Black Lagoon The Spanish Dracula is not listed as an main feature, but listed under bonus features of Dracula (US). Also, on the disc itself, the film is only available through the bonus feature menu. I'm talking about this release: Special Edition(Normal Edition) | | | Think different
