In a senior moment; being tired or subject to galloping senility, I hit something other than "Backup" earlier this month and have apparently wiped all cast and crew data from 99% of some 2,500 DVDs. I hit Cancel early enough to have preserved all my comments, covers etc. Only Cast and Crew listings appear blank. It happened late at night when I tried to get the database to shuffle the 42 discs of the Complete Gilmore Girls into proper succession over their seven seasons. Damage was not apparent when I hit Save. Was puzzled the next day when I updated a number or profiles and saw my naked Cast and Crew columns on my two-screen DVDprofiler setup. Then went into shock as the full damage became apparent. I can spend years to update the database profiles but then I've lost all my personal listings of casting and camera operators.

I have another backup for the one-screen laptop setup but it is unfortunately not up to date. The backup.dpb file is from June 14th, 2015, and I have added a number of North American as well as Danish DVDs after that with still existing comments and acquisition data on my main computer. Oddly, that Asus backup file is 559MB when the backup.dbp on my damaged main system still reads 589MB. Could the missing data still be there but hidden under some program switch? I'm not a programmer and will need help if that is the case.

Alternatively, is there some Profiler editor that will enable me to transfer the cast and crew files from the Asus laptop to the complete listings on my desktop?

Thoughts and help would be muchly appreciated!

Here is an idea: pretend that your ASUS is a headshots database, and go through exactly the same procedure to transfer the cast / crew info into your damaged database. Procedures are in that thread.

BUT BEFORE:

(1) Make a copy of the database under a different name.
(2) Try a database repair. If anything is "hidden" in there, it should come back.

[i]Thanks for input! Have no idea what a "headshots database" is? Only way I can think of to use database repair is to pull the plug while DVD profiler is up. Can't find it as a menu item, or am I missing something?
