| Posted: | | | | The contribution rules say:
Never include the following items in overviews: • Taglines • Reviews (unless they are incorporated into the text of the overview on the case) • Extra features • Hyperlinks or other HTML • Line-break hyphens
What about language information on boxsets? On the Humphrey Bogart Classics, the current overviews contain special features and audio/subtitling information, neither of which I think should be there. I'm about to contribute so the overview only contains the titles of the three films and the overview of the film with no information about the disc.
Could the rules be expanded to say not to include information about the disc, such as subtitling and audio tracks? |

| Posted: | | | | I agree that special features and audio/subtitling should not be part of the overview.
"Extra features" are already part of the exclusions in the rules. I reckon they didn't count on anyone wanting to add audio/subtitling to overviews. Rule changes should be proposed in the Contribution Rules Committee. If you're not a member yet, you can ask Invelos. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree... should be removed. Just the overview... no technical info. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | There is other information, such as aspect ratio so, for example, one of them says:
THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT Truck-driving brothers Humphrey Bogart and George Raft battle the dangers of the open road as well as a murder frame-up in this vintage production full of wisecracking wit and great performances.
Special Features: 'Divided Highway: The Story of They Drive by Night', 'Swinging in the Movies' (1938 WB short), Theatrical Trailer
Running time: approx 91 minutes | B/W | Aspect Ratio: 1.37:1 Full Frame | Audio: 1.0 Mono | Languages: English & Italian | Subtitles: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Romanian, Dutch | Hearing Impaired: English & Italian
In my contribution, I've removed everything but the title and the sentence on the line below it. The other two in the same box set are exactly the same but, as that information is superfluous because it is contained in the child profiles, though not in the overviews, I don't think it should be in the overview.
Perhaps being more explicit in stating such things as the aspect ratio, colour, audio tracks and subtitles should be omitted unless part of the text in the overview (I imagine something like The Artist could mention the film being in black and white and silent) might be a way forward because, although there aren't any votes at present, someone could vote 'no' because what I have done is removed information which is not prohibited by the rules. |

| Posted: | | | | It will be virtually impossible to list all sorts of text that COULD appear on the backside of a DVD cover as exclusions for the Overview field. I'd rather approach this from the opposite side and define Overview for DVDP purposes as a plot summary (or something along those lines) and then add the current exclusions for precision. That would automatically exclude stuff like aspect ratio, color data, audio tracks, subtitles etc., as none of these can be construed to constitute a plot summary. |
