Computer Bild (a computer magazine in Germany) adds each of its DVD a movie. Here, an existing film is taken and slimmed down in the features, sound tracks, etc.. In addition, the cover of the original film is included as a PDF file on the DVD.

If I add the movie, I choose disc-ID because there already exists a profil with the EAN/UPC from the cover. These Submissions are declined with the reason, that I should take the EAN / UPC from the cover.

However, this is absolutely wrong. The EAN / UPC on the cover does not correspond to the stripped-down version of the film. Because the cover is included, I have to take it (I can not just take a different cover or change the cover / distort).

Can someone help me?

Dear moderator, can you comment this?

Thanks a lot.

You can use the new "Alternate Version" feature for this.

This way you will get UPC # #1... and this way it can be uploaded with the included UPC number as the rules requests when there is one present.

Hard to tell how to handle this correctly. Is a cover included as a PDF file really a cover of the release according to the rules?  Or should the cover of the magazine be submitted?

Why would you use the magazine when they supply a cover for the disc itself. Shouldn't matter if it is a pdf or what.

Well...yeah but in this case the magazine doesn't really supply a cover for the release they have on their disk but they just put the cover of the retail release on there, ignoring the fact that the back cover information (including EAN!) is wrong.

Yes @Discostu. This is exactly the dilemma.

But I would not take the cover of the magazine, as already a cover was supplied on the DVD. If I have to print it out or it is in the magazine as a printed cover, should not matter.

Oh well: Invelos has also proposed to create an alternate version of the film (Do not use Disc IDs.  Instead, use the alternate ID feature.  See this page for details.).
For me it makes no sense at all, but if it is so desired, I just do it.
