| Posted: | | | | Hi there--I had a question about how to handle the new release for the Original Christmas Classics Anniversary Collector's Edition. The set comes with two discs, each in their own HD Slim case, housed with a slip case. There are no UPCs on the HD slim cases. There are 4 "stories" (what they're called on the overview) on the first disc and 3 on the second, all of which range from as short as 23 minutes to as long as 51 minutes.
My question is how to handle these--as films, in which you would use alternate IDs, or as shorts, in which case they'd be on the same profile? And if there are handled as films, how would the set be broken out, since there is no UPC on the HD slim cases, would all 7 have to go under one giant profile even though they come in different cases?
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts; I can clarify more if I'm being unclear.
Thanks! |

Just make a main box with the UPC and four child profiles with the Disc-ID's and attach those 4 to the main box in Box Set. As two films are per Disc you need to make for the second child of the same disc an alternate Disc-ID #1 profile. Then you can attach all 4 to the main box. Add to each profile the appropriate Covers and contribute all. | | | * 3D TV Panasonic TX-P65VT30J + Blu-ray Player Panasonic DMP-BDT500 My Filmcollection online: www.filmkino.ch * | | | Last edited: by SwissFilm |

| Posted: | | | | Hi and thanks for the prompt response. There are actually 4 on one disc, and 3 on the other, so I'm guessing it would go something like this?
Main Profile (UPC) >Disc One (Disc ID) >>First "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #1) >>Second "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #2) >>Third "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #3) >>Fourth "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #4) >Disc Two (Disc ID) >>First "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #1) >>Second "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #2) >>Third "film" on disc (Alternate Disc ID #3) |

| Posted: | | | | SwissFilm is wrong.
From the rules on alternate versions: Alternate versions are not used for contributing profiles for shorts or episode-level profiles for TV series.
So all you can do is create the main profile by UPC, then two disc-level profiles by Disc ID and use episode dividers for the individual films. |

| Posted: | | | | okay thanks. My main question was whether they'd be considered TV episodes or not, but I guess thinking about they would be. | | | Last edited: by primetime21 |

| Posted: | | | | Think there are 7 different Christmas films and not episodes like in a TV series, so nothing in the Box and 4 Childs. | | | * 3D TV Panasonic TX-P65VT30J + Blu-ray Player Panasonic DMP-BDT500 My Filmcollection online: www.filmkino.ch * | | | Last edited: by SwissFilm |

| Posted: | | | | I would consider these shorts as well so no child profiles. | | | Pete |

If these disc id's are used in other sets then I would create an alternate version for each disc and then in each profile use episodic dividers. |

All films seen at the holidays in either 1/2 hour or 1 hour slots. I wouldn't consider these shorts. They have been released individualy on disc. It's the same as any of the Charlie Brown classics, they're not shorts. Individual profiles with alt. disc ids | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

| Posted: | | | | See, that's what is confusing, what is a short?
Is a short just a really short segment, such as Frozen Fever or does it also include short films? Are the Three Stooges films, shorts or short films? Are made for tv Christmas (or any Holiday) specials, shorts or short films? |

| Posted: | | | | Is there a difference between a short and a short film? I'm not a native speaker, but I always thought there is none. The Acadamy Awards consider everything a short film with a length of 40 minutes or less. | | | Recently bought films:
The Matrix [Blu-ray] | Shirins Wedding [DVD] | The Graduate [Blu-ray] | Prometheus [Blu-ray 3D] | Hwal [DVD] |

Having their own individual release doesn't make them feature films, they are still shorts. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. That is what these are. Released in the 60s and 70s on primetime television, produced to fit into a 1/2 hour timeslot. |
