With so many blu-rays now including Dolby Atmos  why can we not add this to data base selection????

Whoa, my head is still spinning. Based on what I have been learning in these Forums, I went ahead and loaded up my Transformers Age Of Extinction Blu-Ray. I haven't played it since purchase, although I saw the movie in the theater. The experience was awesome. I don't know if it was true "Atmos" or not - my receiver automatically selected "Dolby TrueHD" and it was sounding good so I didn't change it. From the previous discussion, I had just turned my Front High speakers upwards according to the Atmos configuration for 7.x.2 and increased the level by a couple of DB to compensate for the dispersion. (For me, x=4).

Amazing. I had bullets, bombs and robots buzzing all around me. It did sort of feel like inside the movie. When something was passing from side to side, or diagonally, above, or supposedly behind me - the sound actually did that.

And back to my comments on bass management: when a big thunderous object is supposedly roaring or crashing behind you and moving from one side to the other at the same time - no single bass speaker off in one corner of the room will simulate that. So I remain an advocate for multiple subs.

Many thanks to all you guys who have contributed to my knowledge about all these matters - it started with your advice on the selection of an A/V receivers and projector a few years back. And then on to speakers, demo trailers, setup discs, and so on - all discovered here.  It sort of all came to a head tonight when I think I probably had the best audio / visual experience ever (short of Imax. Still can't trump that one), and I now believe the Atmos hype. Maybe it wasn't real Atmos, but was remarkably entertaining.
