When I try to restore my database to my new comp, I get this no matter what I do (full restore or just any given title).
It happens right during the first partt when it says it's importing the cast db, so I never get a chance to see any titles in there. Is there anything I can do to get my database back? It would be bad enough having to put in 2000+ titles without a scanner, but I have hundreds of customs covers and pictures for cast and crew that would take decades to get back. Please tell me there is a way. I already ran database repair and it did nothing.

Since photobucket doesn't work on my new shiitake mushroom, it says:

Big red letters - RESTORE ABORTED
small black letters - the following error occured during the restore:
data error

This happens when it's doing the cast and won't even try to do anything past that.

Could it maybe be something where you're trying to restore and it needs the "Attributes" to be edited somewhere? i.e. Read-only, Hidden, Security/Unblock, etc..

That's the only thing I can really think of.

Nothing there helps either.
It also fails on my girls laptop which is running windows 8.
Does his program work with windows 8, or is my backup file corrupted?
But if my backup ios corrupot, why can I not add anything by UPC or title?
I honestly hope 8 is the issue. I can find an old comp. It will take years literally to get my database back with my pictures and custom name links, plus I'll lose my entire watching history.
This really couldn't suck any worse.

It may be an issue with permissions or your AV software.  DVD Profiler runs fine on Windows 8/8.1.

Do you still have your old computer running with DVD Profiler? If yes make first a Database Repair, then when done a new Backup and try to restore it. Could be that there was an error when you made your backup and this error now prevent you to restore it.

And if you are running an Antivirus Software, stop it during the restore, may perhaps also help.

Good luck,

Fritz

Old comp is beyond dead, it's in pieces out back for real.
Now after getting an error message on the girls laptop and walking away, my collection just showed up with a few holes, so at least it's not completely gone. Still nothing working on my new desktop though.
I'll see if I can find if I am or am not running anit-virus. I didn't set anything, but new compo might have some crap built in.

Aftre getting an error my girls laptop, later my collection appeared! So I ran the database repair and moved the file to my comp, and it's now working! Guess from now on I'll run a repair before saving, this was too close to losing so much personal and custom info it's scary!
Thanks for the tip Swiss. I think I probably would've gotten around to that, but wasn't thinking of it at the time!
