When I try to reassign collection numbers I get a pop up that says:

"DBSIAM Engine Error #8965 Index page buffers corrupt in the table "COLLECTION".

Database Repair doesn't solve this, what ca I do to remedy this?

Try this:

1. Create a Backup
2. Create a new and empty database
3. Restore the Backup to the new database
4. Check if this solved the problem
5. If "Yes": delete the old database
6. If "No": come back here to check for further help
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Also make sure your virus scanner software is configured to ignore the directory where your database is stored. Virus scanners can block file access at inopportune times, resulting in this very error.

When Dvd Profiler was restoring the backup to the new database I got the message:

"Out of memory while expanding memory stream".

This happened when it was restoring my alternative portraits.
I tried it again and deselected restoring the alternative portraits. But then I got the same message while it was skipping them.

----------------------------------------------------

I configured my virus scanner software to ignore the directory where my database is stored.

Thanks both for your help so far.

Last time I had an error like this one it was there really was some access corruption because I'd left the PC on so long... I tried the old "Turn it off and on again", then the usual database repair and/or backup and restore to new, clean database and it was fixed.

Since I got stuck everytime I tried to restore the backup to the new database I did the next best thing I could think of:

- Did a final database repair of my old database.
- Synchronized that database with my online database.
- Downloaded my online database into my new database.

In the new database I can reassign collection numbers once again.
The only loss I have are the covers to my manual dvds.

If you haven't deleted the defective database yet: simply move all the covers from old to new.
The covers reside in
  • "\Documents and Settings\$Username\My Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\$Databasename\Images\"-folder (Windows XP and earlier)

  • "\Users\$Username\Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\$Databasename\Images\"-folder (Vista and later)
