| Posted: | | | | The German box set of Malcolm in the middle (EAN: 4260294854031) contains the first 3 seasons of the show. Each season has their own case with own ean code. So each season can be entered this way as a child profile. Should the parent profile be treated like a box set or a tv series? Should it contain features, audio, disc info, etc. or not? | | | Think different
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. |

| Posted: | | | | TV Rules for both parent and child. In fact the rules state that the child profiles are optional. Per the rules:
"Disc-level Profiles
Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile. Create each of these individual profiles in line with the standard Contribution Rules with one exception - Cover Images. If a disc, or set of discs, have their own case, use the cover images from that case. When submitting a change to an existing TV series profile that is currently a box set, do not remove the existing contents.
In either case, the cast and crew are to be entered into the parent profile using appropriate episode dividers." |

| Posted: | | | | The parent box set profile should contain all the disc info, cast and crew from the child profiles. You can easily copy/paste/append season data to the main box set.
However, audio, subtitle and video info can be a bit tricky, because they can be different for each season. There are many examples of TV-series that were first shot in 1.33:1, and then in 1.78:1, or first with DD 2.0 sound, and later with DD 5.1 sound. | | | Last edited: by marcelb7 |

| Posted: | | | | But the child profiles aren't disc level profiles. There the 3 season profiles, each with their own ean code. Could this parapgraph in the rules be applied? Note: In rare cases where multiple Complete TV Series are packaged together, the Box-set rules can be applied, treating each series like a single film - applying the above rules for it’s individual profile. | | | Think different

Sorry, I updated my post. You can indeed add the UPC/EAN of the separate seasons to the main box set profile. So, like this: Box Set (UPC) |- Season 1 (UPC) |- Season 2 (UPC) |- Season 3 (UPC) |- etc. | | | Last edited: by marcelb7 |

It could and, in my opinion, should be applied. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. That's the one, yes. No disc-level profiles attached to the parent, just three season-level profiles. |
