But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Impressive numbers. But not as impressive as 0 contributions and 0 votes. LOL. Title of thread is 15,000 + Club, as in titles owned and not contributions submitted....but you already knew that. I neither submit profiles to the Invelos DB, nor do I download profiles from it....but you already knew that. I prefer to compile/enter my own profiles rather than use those entered/compiled by somebody else. Why anyone would want me to compile their profiles for them is beyond me. From the Invelos rules page: "If you wish to save different information in your local profiles, you are free to do so in your local database, but do not contribute your information."...but you already knew that. I get 'contributions' out of my system, as it were, by contributing data to IMDB on a near daily basis. (JMGuer, same name as here). It should be pretty obvious why my profiles can't be contributed to the online database....but you already knew that. Crucial difference....., unlike some, I bought the Invelos license in order to use the program/software (thought it was a great tool), and not the online database (never cared for it, for very obvious reasons). Invelos could disappear and go offline tomorrow and it would not make one bit of difference to me...I would carry on profiling my movies as I always have done. Quoting ateo357: Quote:

| Posted: | | | | wow, Dezember 2014 on 16'000, I see now GeneinOrlando already passed 17'000 films, that makes nearly 10 films a day, Saturday and Sunday also counted. How can you have such a large collection without making contributions? All films already in the database perfect?

Fritz The vast majority of DVDs in my collection I already had prior to buying an Invelos DVDP license....it was a question of entering them all into my local database, along with weekly new purchases....which has taken me 2 years to do. I have been collecting DVDs since around 2000, prior to this I collected VHS, Betamax and lasediscs from around early 1980s to around 2000. Quoting SwissFilm: Quote:

Fritz How would you suggest I contribute? I make up my own profiles from scratch, and use a different set of rules than those applicable to the online. I would have to compile one set of data (data that I may not agree with) to contribute/submit to the online, and then delete said data and start all over again by re-compiling it for my own local. There's only so many hours in a day. I do contribute a mass of data to IMDB on a near daily basis....doesn't do much for the DVDP members, I know, but I am not adverse to making contributions..... Fritz I do it by stages....first I profile to a temp category....when everything has been checked 100%, the profile/title gets transfered to a final category which I call "Films". |

| Posted: | | | | The reason I don't contribute my data is that I customize my database for my use. Some of it obvious if you look at my collection. Don't think you'd want me to be putting out my info to screw up your database. I have contributed hundreds of trailers, however. Gene http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/GeneinOrlando |
