If there are only two writing credits, and one is "Novel by" (which gets OMB) and the other is "Screenplay Adaption by" then I would say yes, that is a Screenwriter credit.

Rule is clear :  For each category, include only those people credited with the roles listed in the "Role" and "Credited As" columns.
So not in the list -> no contribution.

Just to note, in the program itself when one chooses Screenwriter it states in the area above Credited As "adapted screenplays".

So doesn't a "Screenplay Adaptation equal adapted screenplay?

We are not supposed to think, or try to interpret. There are rules lists, and everything that is not, on screen, as in those lists, is not allowed.

I've understood that for online database we contribute only author of original screenplay, am I wrong?

Should it be listed? Yes. This is exactly who we're after: the person who turned the novel into a screenplay. Can it be listed? Can of worms...

Yes, it gets credited.  The addition of the word 'adaptation' does not change the fact that this is a screenplay by credit which is in the crew chart.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Of course, it changes what is on screen. We are requested to follow rules exactly, not to interpret them.
