| Posted: | | | | Hello all. I am very new to the software and to the forum so please be patient and feel free to direct me to the appropriate thread if this is a duplicate. I own the desktop and iphone version.
I would like to know how i would add a boxset and have it add the individual entries to the OWNED count. For instance, let's say i own 500. I add my Sleepaway Camp boxset of 3 movies. When i first owned just the iphone version and i scanned the SC boxset it went from 500 to 501 and i couldn't search titles within the boxset (E.G. sc: unhappy campers; sc: teenage wasteland).
What i need is to scan it in and have the count go from 500 > 503 and be able to search titles within the boxset. Thanks all.
And by the way, i just discovered tags in the desktop version and i did a sync with the online database and they carry over to my mobile database!!!!! Worth the entire price of the software......now i can tag all my horror flicks. | | | Last edited: by andmakeyourstand |

| Posted: | | | | First you don't have tag horror genres, you can fnd those by the genres (next to the General). Example: If I select the genre CRIME, I have 5635 profiles of this genre. Only 635 are films, the rest are TV series.
But only 5225 are counted as having discs. Under the Personalize field I keep count of the discs. Thus a paper case that contains one or more say keep cases does get a count.
You can also create your own genres, although they will not show up in a contribution or online db. That why it is important to back you own data base for yourself.
I created a boxed set of tags for only box sets: Box Set Child (for the discs in a box set) Parent Level 1 (Outer most level case) Parent Level 2 (Next inner level next inner level case)
So Law & Order which has Box set of all 20 Seasons with each has its own keep case looks like this:
Law & Order: The Complete Series (Parent Level 1) Law & Order: The First Year: 1990-1991 Season (Parent Level 2)
Law & Order: The First Year: 1990-1991 Season: Disc One (child) ... ... ... ... Law & Order: The First Year: 1990-1991 Season: Disc Six (child) Law & Order: The Second Year: 1991-1992 Season ... ... Law & Order: The Twelfth Year: 2001-2002 Season
I also create a set of tags for TV series since they tend to be different than films. example:
Complete seriess for the profile that completes a series TV Series Misc TV Movie-Play TV Min-series | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. Highlight the profile in question, press Ctrl&p ( personalize) and change the "Count as"-value to your liking. However, there are also something called child profiles (don't know if you discovered them yet). With those you could have one profile for the box, and e.g. 3 single profiles for the three movies. Highlight the profile and press Ctrl&F12 to check for child profiles. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

cya, Mithi OK. I just figured out the whole "Parent" thing and it is EXACTLY what i needed! I scanned in my 'Sleepaway Camp' Box set, counted the box set as 0 and counted each film as 1. Perfect! Now i get a TRUE count of my movies where as before it just entered the 3 film box set as 1. Another small question....i noticed that in the desktop software it searches WITHIN a box set. For example, in my nightmare on elm street box set if i type in "Freddy's Dead" it finds it. However, if i do this on the iphone it finds nothing? Any way to search within a box set on the iphone version? | | | Last edited: by andmakeyourstand |

| Posted: | | | | This issue came up recently in a different thread. The answer seems to be to NOT use the nested box set feature in the iOS version. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | Not sure about the iOS version. I can think of three ways in the PC version: 1) use tags, which you can then filter on; 2) make use of the Sort Title field. E.g. some fellow users have put "007" at the beginning of all James Bond titles in their collection in this field. Displaying their collection alphabetically will then show all James Bond titles in a row; 3) create a manual parent profile with all related films as (grand)children.
Good luck!

Cheers, DJ #2 sounds like it will work. I think if i do this in the sort field it will solve the 2 series crossover issue: (Friday The 13th A Nightmare On Elm Street) Freddy VS Jason |

#2 worked. I put both series in () in the sort and it worked as needed. Thank you sir!

Cheers, DJ The pc version works perfect however i just found out the ios version won't search or sort by "Sorted Title". Oh well. I'll just have to be grateful that the pc version works. |

| Posted: | | | | I just checked, and the iOS version does support filtering on Tags. Perhaps that could provide a solution? | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |
