Recently I borrowed a scanner from work in part to test it out but also to try and enter some of the backlog movies I have.

Windows recognizes it. It installed the drivers automatically and the unit beeps when it's plugged in and when it scans a barcode. The problem is, the UPC doesn't appear in the "Add DVD" field. I've tried several different ones but nothing happens.

I've installed the TWAIN driver just in case from the manufacturer's website but it's still not working. Neither has rebooting the system. Is there something I'm missing here?

And just in case it's relevant:
OS: Windows 7 SP1
Scanner: Honeywell 1900 https://www.honeywellaidc.com/en-US/Pages/Product.aspx?category=hand-held-barcode-scanner&cat=HSM&pid=1900

Check in the configuration-tool of the scanner where the scan-results are being sent to and in which format (*.txt is required)
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

A warm welcome to you, Skyknight416.

There are basically 2 kinds of barcode scanners:

1) Devices that send the data to a certain interface (COM or LPT back then, USB today) and the application has to fetch the information from there.
2) Devices that act as a keyboard, sending the data as if the were coming from a keyboard (PS/2 or USB-Human Interface Device)

Profiler only works with #2. Open an editor, scan a barcode and if it appears there it should work with Profiler. If not, you are out of luck.

I may be wrong, but what I read on the product page it seems to be a #1

What you could do if you have a smartphone: get barcode2file[1], scan all your missing titles, send to PC
add DVD > add multiple and open the file there.
