many movies has only asian signs on screen. so i think the imdb name was taken (Chan-wook Park). but wikipedia list him as Park Chan-wook.

The problem is that in the Korean language the family name is at the first place. According to the rules the credit "Park Chan-Wook" has to be entered as

First Name: Chan-Wook
Last Name: Park

into DVDProfiler. This leads to the confusing situation that in CLT results "Chan-Wook Park" and "Park Chan-Wook" actually have to be counted as the same name and the only question is if his first name is "Chan-Wook", "ChanWook" or "Chan Wook".

Agreed. Since Ken never implemented the promised Given/Surname model, we stick with the known first/middle/last parsing, which leads to Park//Chan-Wook.
At least the majority of the users around here prefers this model -> Poll.

So the rule is that there is no universal rule, and I thought first name means first name
