I got caught with my pants down because I believed the GUI when it said that a YES will renumber the existing backup.

Because I was having database issues, I was doing some backups and having DVDP "renumber" the existing backup.  I was then going to go back and get the first backup to pull some data because of an issue I discovered later.

When I looked at the directory on the NAS box that contains the backup files, I discovered that there were only two backups, none of which had any kind of number.  I was expecting something along the line where the previous backup would be called "backup_0001.dpb".  When I did the next backup, the existing backup would then be named "backup_0002.dpb".  Nope, the existing backup becomes "backup.dpb.bak", overwriting any backup file of that name.

Because of this, the data I was going to get from the first backup is now gone. 

Please fix DVDP so that the backups do as indicated in the backup GUI dialog, and that is create numbered backups, using a numbering scheme like the one shown above.

Try rechanneling that anger into some creative solutions. Your operating system might support previous versions - right click on the file to see the properties. Maybe you got lucky. Otherwise, I assume you are doing incremental backups of either your NAS or the DVDP install directory - maybe one of your databases is equivalent to the backup that you think you have lost. Anyways, good luck.
