Before buying the full version (I still don't know if the full version is needed to use a scanner or anything about using bar code scanners with Profiler because Invelos has still not answered my email - going on 4 days now  ), I'd like to get any feedback from anyone who used ANY scanners with Profiler. One thing I'm not sure of is that they all say "automatic") - i.e. : Will the laser stay on when it's on the stand so you can slide a BD under it, type, and then slide the next one under? Or do you have to pull the trigger each time? 

Currently, these are the ones I'm looking at (descending by price). If you have any experience with one of these or another within this price range, please advise:

Automatic trigger: use scanner as either a hand-held device or a fixed presentation scanner when mounted in the stand

i use it myself and it works without problems. otherwise looking for a scanner that provides this function.

I have an inexpensive USB scanner from Amazon that works just fine with Profiler.  I don't remember the brand but it was about $25.  I do have to use the trigger to scan but it suits my purposes.

Thanks LJG & scotthm & everybody!    I should've posted again but I've been kinda pissed at Invelos since they never answered my pre-purchase Q - and I sent 3 emails (prompt reply promised  ). Anyway, I went with an Esky automatic stand unit ($28) and it works like a charm! It has some sort of motion detector and all I've got to do is slide the BD/DVD under the stand and it beeps and voilà, like magic! Wish I had more than 600 movies to enter.    Man, it's a pity that I can't use this software for my CD collection!

I just wanted to say I grabbed the same scanner (thanks to this thread) and all I can say is "Where has this been my entire life". 

I gave up on scanning our movies a couple years ago since all we had was a cue cat (still have a couple of them).  While it technically works, it was a pain to scan them.  I'd have to box up a pile of movies, bring them to the computer room, scan them, then put them back..

Last night installed DVD Profiler on our newer notebook computer (tiny thing), plugged in the esky scanner and in less than 2 hours I had > 1400 movies scanned.

That motion detection (light detection) thing made scanning many of the movies extremely fast.  I'm talking as I pulled out the disc it was scanned before I even got it all the way out.  It really depended on the light..  If there wasn't much light on the DVD shelf it didn't do the auto detection very well and I'd have to pull the trigger..

At this rate I'll have the rest of the Discs scanned this weekend, including the ones that don't have bar codes (some steel boxes and a few others).
