This is the (recurring) error: I already repaired the database, but that didn't help. Any hints? Is the file ACTORASSGN.DAT important? Can I delete it? A file access problem can be solved with a reboot, if it is because an application didn't release its access on it. Not to say that this is the case here. | Posted: | | | | I just tested it and you can't open a DVDP database with a missing ACTORASSGN.DAT So I tend to agree with Tom and say it's corrupt, which is probably making a successful backup impossible. What I don't understand is this: You say the backup fails and yet you post screenshots with recent backups that are several gigabytes in size. When exactly does the backup process fail? Please try the following: Start the backup process, but de-select cover images (leaving out the images saves time) Create a new, empty database via File -> Open Database -> New Database Try to restore the backup into it If success, simply move the Images folder from the old database location to the new one If this fails, then use the new, empty database to restore an old backup from before your trouble started. Your last resort could be to export the database to XML and "restore" it with the help of BulkEdit into the new, empty DB. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Tools > Options > Online > Use alternative internet connection method > Okay > Backup your database.

| Posted: | | | | Backups are back. Just in case somebody is interested, following some boring notes about what has happened. I checked debuglog.txt, but Profiler does not track backup activities. Noticed that the error created a file dvdpro.elf within the DVDProfiler program folder. A 40 KB textual file, with some informations about your computer, dlls, processes. First line "EurekaLog 6.0.21". EurekaLogCurrent version 7.0.07, btw. ... 2.5 Type: EFOpenError 2.6 Message: Cannot open file C:\my_Data\my_DVDProfiler\my_database\ACTORASSGN.DAT. ... We already knew that. EFOpenError is raised when an application cannot open a specified file. This can occur, for example, because the file doesn't exist or is not in the directory where the application is searching for it. Or maybe being used by another process. I guess this EurekaLog-file will be sent if you agree to "Send an error report to Invelos". If the sending works... Began Custom Backups. The error occurred only when also reports, layouts and translation files were included. Kind of weird, where's the connection between ACTORASSGN.DAT and reports? As you have already seen, my database is not stored in the default place. I've also redirected the Reports and Layouts file folders to that directory: And that was the problem. That my_database was _in_ the Reports / Layouts folder. I guess Profiler tries to backup everything within the reports and layouts folder, only that the database files were already used, and ACTORASSGN.DAT is the first file in the database folder. I've moved reports and layouts to subfolders within my_DVDProfiler, and everything works fine now. Thanks again to everyone who has thought about the problem.
