| Posted: | | | | Yeah, it's just R.I.P.D. The words underneath just explain what it stands for. |

| Posted: | | | | While I do agree with the R.I.P.D. approach, I can see how problems may arise soon enough. In how far is R.I.P.D. different to MIB? Following the MIB clarification by Invelos, the title would in fact be "Rest in Peace Department". (Mind you, this is only playing "Devil's Advocate") | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | A bit of rare common sense is needed here. A bit of research seems it's known as simply R.I.P.D. everywhere else, so why not here also? |

Similarly, refining and complicating the rules to satisfactorily contain each of these new variants is an exercise in futility.
Local databases can support an infinite variety of variants for title and other fields, and the local locks are available to make those changes permanent. With this in mind, hopefully the supporters on both sides of this and other similar debates can agree that the direction of a decision here is less important that the fact of a decision. Consistency for submission to the online is possible and what we should shoot for. Agreement on how it "should be" is neither possible nor (thankfully) necessary. MIB was a one-off ruling, and not necessarily applied across the DB. IMHO the title should be R.I.P.D. |

fyi, common sense and consistency are not part of the DVDP process. |

IMHO the title should be R.I.P.D. God forbid we should apply the same logic to two titles which structurally appear identical on the front cover! Any time a title in LARGE letters is followed by a subtitle in small letters directly beneath it, I treat it the SAME way. If we actually had consistency, maybe people wouldn't constantly be coming here to ask the same questions over and over! Fortunately, the program is designed to allow each of us to be as inconsistent as we wish! | | | Hal |

Over time I think we all have a streak of it in us. |

| Posted: | | | | From the Rules:
"Use the title from the front cover"
It doesn't matter what the "real" title is, what the credit block says or any other reference you'd like to use. That's what the "Original Title" field is for.
What goes in the title field is the title of THIS release as displayed on the front cover. That's it! | | | Hal |
