| Posted: | | | | What should go in the Edition Field for this canadian release (UPC 883929355570.3): Edit: In the poll, one should of course read Best of Warner Bros. (not Warmer ) | | | Last edited: by Wigram |

| Posted: | | | | I have a few of these releases: Amadeus, GoodFellas and The Shining. I've entered them all with Best of Warner Bros. into the edition field. The only one that applies to a version like this is Amadeus which is also the Director's Cut.
I entered that one into the system as Amadeus: Director's Cut: Best of Warner Bros.
I entered it that way because Director's Cut applies directly to the film (so I did it first) while Best of Warner Bros. only references the release of blu-rays (so I have it listed second).
Two editions for one film have always left me scratching my head, but that was my reasoning for doing that one the way I did. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | The rules don't specify how to handle two editions... but the way I always did it (when available like this) is start from the top and work my way down... basically adding them in the same order as they are listed from top to bottom. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I usually go with what Pete does, unless it is a series of releases like this one is. In a case like this, I prioritize series first then title specific, so I would go...
Best of Warmer Bros.: 70th Anniversary Edition | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

Since we are profiling the movie on the disc, I think the first edition should match the movie. Best of Warner Bros. is linked to the studio (more or less) and has really nothing to do with the movie. Other than being the disc distributor. |

| Posted: | | | | First and foremost we are profiling the DVD/BR release. I always seen the feature on the disc as secondary to the disc we were profiling. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I think that by having Best of Warner Bros. first and 70th Anniversary Edition after it makes it look like the 70th Anniversary is that of Warner Bros. and not of Gone with the Wind.
If this was a Criterion Collection release what would go first? Surely Criterion Collection hasn't been around for 70 years, but Gone with the Wind sure has. |

| Posted: | | | | I already gave my opinion on the subject... on situations like this... I always go from top to bottom... what is listed first (at the top) on the cover gets listed first in profile. That is how I do it every time. No matter what it actually says. So depending on the design of the cover it could very well be different from one release to another. | | | Pete |

I debated on what I would do and think this seems the most logical to me. Agreed as I said in my first post. This way just makes the most sense to me. And that's not to say that Addicted's way of doing it would be incorrect, since this isn't really specified anywhere, we're kind of left on our own. Top down could get confusing in some cases, whereas putting the edition that relates directly to the film first seems more like a clear cut way, again, to me. | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | And if we wanted to go for consistency (something I think we can all agree one the database lacks at times), since I've already entered one a specific way, entering it that way would help create some sense of consistency. | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | The only way to get true consistency (at least in the online database) is for Ken to make a decision on how to do it when there is more then 1 edition.
I seriously don't see you getting everyone to agree with one way here on the forum... plus there is many people that do not come to the forums who do contribute. | | | Pete |
