| Posted: | | | | Movie box set profiles are, per the rules, mostly empty. They contain virtually no data pertaining to the movies included in the set - all that data appears only in the set's child profiles. One of the fields I've never used on a movie box set parent profile is the "Original Title" field: as the profile doesn't track any movie(s), but just the empty box, I don't think it that it has an original title. Am I right or wrong? I'll give an example:
Original Title: Ace Ventura Collection Original Title: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective / Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
Again, of course the child profiles have original titles - that's without question. But does the otherwise empty parent profile get an original title as well? And if so: since that's always going to be more than one title, is there a consensus on how to format that, exactly? |

| Posted: | | | | OK, the case is about Ace Ventura, it's a double Feature and the German Title of it is like on Frontcover Ace Ventura and the two German Titles of the two included films, also on Frontcover:
Ace Ventura: Ein tierischer Detektiv / Ace Ventura: Jetzt wird's wild
I believe now, that we can also put the Originaltitle as follows in this parent profile:
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective / Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls or better Ace Ventura: Pet Detective / When Nature Calls
Is this really wrong in a parent profile to put the Original Titles??
Thanks,

| Posted: | | | | I don't believe that it serves a purpose since "The Original Title field serves two general purposes, but in both cases allows for the tracking of the original feature title.". Notice what I put in bold, it says nothing about box titles. But it's yet another area where the rules don't expressively forbid it so I guess we are stuck in a deadlock as usual. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Yes, because the title for the box set is well, just a title just for the box set. Box set doesn't have an original title. |

| Posted: | | | | The example given here to discuss is a double feature in a 2 disc Box Set. As there are child profiles, i think there is no need for original titles in the main Box Set profile.
But in case the double feature is on a single disc, and the Box Set profile has all other information like crew and cast, the original titles should be entered in the profile too. |
